I'm curious as to what that laser grid on the ice is all about (6th picture posted).

The laser grid on the ice is 1) Rexall Place and 2) from the most recent April fools day video wherein they explained how they were going to move the ice from Rexall to Rogers by cutting it into chunks with lasers.

We're going next Saturday. I'll report back on the experience and facility. I have the unique perspective of having attended first events at Northlands Coliseum and Commonwealth Stadium as well as seeing those facilities in advance of opening as comparison.

We intend to take the full 1.5hrs allotted to look around. Those that know me know my report will be in detail. I'll take a lot of mental notes;)

For pictures you'll need another guy.

Thanks. I'm not great at photography, even worse at posting them up online. I'm sure lots of pictures will be around after next weekend. Should be fun.

Wonder if they will have concessions trial running. That would actually be a good idea and some revenue.

I get an arena tour and skate on Wednesday thanks to my wife's work. Haven't skated since 2001, so it should be rather interesting.

It sounds like there will indeed be concessions open for the event, per the City's page. Should be interesting to see how extensive, though!

Among the highlights of the tour will be seeing the Ford Hall artwork by world-renowned Indigenous artist Alex Javier, the NHL’s largest true high-definition scoreboard, and the bright, wide concourses offering an impressive array of food and beverage options.

I took that statement as " check out these concourses that will eventually provide impressive food and beverage options"

Although it would make sense to have a trial run of their food service over two straight days of thousands of people. They did say no booze though :)

Considering it was some of the worst I've in the league and was probably responsible for numerous injuries it can stay in the ghost town that will be Rexall Place.

Second time I've heard this. Not sure where you are getting your information from. Was far from the worst ice in the league. Had plenty high ratings from the officials and players. Multiple 100%'s throughout the year aswell.
