Would make sense for the Oilers to try and get a bridge deal. He could never hit 77 points again and he has only done that once.

2 years & $5m, then 6 years & $9m if repeated.

The Leafs finally have all these nice new toys and now these Oiler deals are freaking me out that we won't be able to afford them all shortly...

Damn, these kids these days are greedy AF. The 2nd contract used to be slanted towards benefiting the organization. Seems like those days are over.

Then don't sign him to an 8 year deal...offer a 5 yr * $7M. 8 Yr * $9M is paying him entirely too much for 1 year of production especially when the bulk of that production was as McDavid's winger.

My guess is Drai gets a tarasenko contract.

Pushing 9 means the ask is, what, 8.75 right now? Honestly that's better than what's been rumoured.

8 years at 7.75 is my bet. Also most likely gets an A now that Eberle is gone.

People also need to look at deals as percentages of the cap more. A guy that got 6 mil three or four years ago is now on a bargain deal.

Hopefully the Leafs trio share the Tavares/Toews/Kane/Karlsson/etc mindset of wanting to win instead of this Oilers mindset of going all in on the money.

Isnt Matthews > McDavid in the eyes of some of the more fanatical amongst you?

Better hope he doesn't think that, too.
