Only spent a year here, I don't recall much about his managerial impact on what was still a floundering TFC squad.

But I'm sure he was a nice guy.

Only remember his last few years with Ipswich, WC 1982 and then the Arsenal years better, so I probably didn't see him at his best. Good forward, but didn't blow me away or anything.

At Arsenal, I thought his teammate forward Tony Woodcock was better (and he did score more goals than Mariner), but to be fair Woodcock was a couple of years younger.

I also particularly didn't like Arsenal, so I wasn't trying to find anything good about them either.

I don't think people realize just how important he was to those great Revs teams of the early- mid 2000's. There's a reason Nichol never got another gig in MLS: Everyone knew Marner was the guy running things.
