I will always remember his walk on the pitch after the 1990 WC final.

Our iconic player.

RIP
A defender who wasn’t afraid to take initiative offensively when his team needed it.
His injured arm game, vs Italy, was legendary
Actually he "never was a "defender. He was a "Libero". Italians know what I means. His " defender" was Schwarzenbeck. He was the orignal number 6, a player who developed a play.

Then and there
RIP.

Somehow I had forgotten that he won Bundesliga as a player with HSV too and won as Bayern manager in 1993/94 season. In hindsight, that team doesn't seem anything special, although their starting line-up consisted mostly of national team level players.

Of course I remember Thomas Helmer's phantom goal from that season.

Beckenbauer seems to have had rough last decade of his life.

He participated in both Mexican WC’s

His experience from the 70 WC as a player must have him to prepare his team for the 86 WC (altitude, heat, pitch, etc)
