Cole's last NHL game was Poehling's Habs debut vs the Leafs when he had 3 goals and then the shootout winner.

Mr Cole passed, it is a sad day for hockey fans coast to coast. He was such a great broadcaster and made the games entertaining. I remember so many great games but the call on the Desjardins goal stands out for me, thanks to @red devil for posting it, I got goosebumps listening to it again. RIP Bob Cole.

Too young to really remember Danny Gallivan.

Bob Cole was the best. Just a great voice - classic. I miss him doing games.

Danny Gallivan was amazing....................and he matched our teams at the time....it was a great time to be a habs fan, with Gallivan on the mic, and the habs winning Cups left and right!!

RIP Bob, you were also amazing on the mic!!

I had no idea about this before but according to Brunt the first time Cole's voice was heard nationally across Canada calling an NHL game was what turned out to be Jean Beliveau’s final game as a Hab when they won the cup in 1969.

Also from that Brunt piece. This is Cole's call on the Henderson goal from 1972. I had not heard it until today.

That HNIC retirement tribute video is really great. Ron MacLean said it perfectly in that video when he said Bob Cole sings the game. He really did.
