Dude had 3 goals and 9 assists in 30 games for us. Our top scoring defensemen has 21 points in 60 games. I think we could have used Larson more than the 5th round pick. :(

He didn't want to play here. Nothing we could of done.

He was a better forward than a defenseman. I remember he had a ton of points in one blowout game as a PP specialist. They played him at wing and he had great speed and checked hard.

I'd rather have him than a 5th rounder too, but who knows what we will get for that 5th?

If a player never wants to play here again, you might as well get something for him reasonable, unlike the Haritkanen trade.

Larsen was one of my favourites during his brief time here, just because he was such a fantastic skater. I have no doubt he'd be better in the NHL than Schultz right now. This is just a case of a guy not wanting to come here, he'll be back in the NHL.

The lingering effects of a ****ed up management which will have long lasting effect on Chia.

Really sucks as I wanted to see larsen here next year, but Eakins and MacT ruined that.

Why? He's a poor mans' Schultz. A PP specialist who isn't good on the PP.
Beautiful skater, not a good NHLer. Too weak physically and minimal Hockey IQ.

He wasn't given much of a chance. Would've been a nice depth guy to have

Maybe as depth but ideally as a 2nd or 3rd callup.
In any event, I doubt he would come back unless he was in the running for a top 6 spot which he definitely wouldn't have been here if Chia does his job this offseason.

Good to get an asset out of really not much of an asset in our bank. Larsen was as bad defensively as any of our guys but at least he did produce offensively.

At least we know that our Gm is not just a weekend at bernies figurine or a card board cutout.

Chia had interest in bringing him back and he said no (who can blame him). So a free 5th for nothing. Would he have became a FA on July 1st?

I think Larsen's numbers in the AHL suggest he has improved.

When he was here he was far from the worst we had but occupied the same role as Justin Schultz.

From my hazy memory I think there is an NHL player there. Small but solid puck moving defenseman. If paired with a bigger more physical guy on the bottom pairing and used on the PP a bit he could be a useful guy.

So from that perspective the Nucks could/should/maybe get a NHL useful player for a 5th. That's a win for them.

With the Schultz, Clendening, PP, situation we are in it sucks that we couldn't get this guy to come play for us.

Big picture, neither the pick nor the player are going to do anything for the Oilers. A small bottom pairing puck mover is not what will turn this team around.

Oh well, lots of players do not want to come to Edmonton including a few good drafted ones. Hopefully when the team starts winning and rebuilding their reputation things will change. Who knows how long that will be though?
