RFA signings usually happen latter in the offseason. Take a look at RFA's on other teams.

Brady and Batherson are the only one's to watch really. They will all get done in due time, but the amount of term those two get will be interesting.

Guess I'm just antsy. I'm hoping Melnyk commits to the plan.

Melnyk's plan is probably: 1) Get into the playoffs by adding a few vets such as a center and defenseman so the team can earn playoff revenues, and 2) Keep the budget near the cap floor by keeping salary costs down as revenues have been low and are projected to be low this coming season.

Tkachuk will drag on for a long time yet. He'll probably miss some of training camp.

Now that Mete has filed for arbitration he'll get done at some point in the next 3 weeks.

I don't know what the plan is with Batherson. A bridge deal should be fairly easy to negotiate, he doesn't have much of a case for anything beyond about 3M at the top end. Gets more complicated if you start buying UFA years. Not sure if they have any appetite for this sort of deal given how poor Colin White's contract is looking.

Would love a longterm deal with batherson but can see why a bridge would make sense. I'm pretty high on him.

RFA signings is one of the few things we don't have to "worry" about, it pretty much always get done

Who's the last we couldn't do (not counting Duclair)? Meszaros? We had to trade him and the return ended up beneficial so no big deal in the end

Signing Mete is not so easy is a very complicated and difficult process and holding up all other signings. Brady is just going to be patient. Mete first.....

This. People don't understand that this is the NHL domino right now. A lot of teams are waiting after this

Usually when you lowball people they don’t respond too quickly, if at all

NHL contract negotiations is not Kijiji, there is no "low-balling". The team gives an offer they think is fair based on data that they present to the player's agent. The player's agent then drafts up a counter offer based on what the data they collected, this might go on for a while, in fact, there is way more that goes into a contract negotiation than just money.

Everyone always thinks it is only about the money but there are other specific details that go into a player signing a contract with a professional sports team, and sometimes those things need to be hammered out.

Not worrying about this at all. It always take time for RFA to sign. We got lucky with Chabot, it’s a rare one that was done a year before his contract was up. Usually they sign before training camp or some of them miss a portion of training camp. It all depends how fast other players sign in the league (comparable).

It will get done, the player has no other option than holding out. Very easy for Dorion to go to the Tkachuk camp and say Brady has 80% of the points of his brother who got 7M, which means probably 3 x 6 at best. Batherson probably comes in at 3 x 4 to 4.5

Guys go on vacation for the early summer, agents have informal chats for all of their clients, teams formulate a salary structure and come up with a variety of scenarios.

Players come back from vacation and start training, casual chats between agents and teams start to get more serious and formal offers are negotiated.

Player gets involved in discussions with agents… Deal eventually gets done.

Geeez, haven’t any of you watched Ballerz??

Its too early to panic. If they both arent signed by training camp then it might be time to panic
