Hamilton will get somewhere between 3-4m for 2 years.
Connolly will get 1-1.5m for one year, will play for his next contract.
Spooner will probably get ~1.5m for 2 years. He has no leverage and all he probably wants right now is a one-way contract.
Can't see Svedberg getting anything more than 1m for a year. He's not the shoe-in to be our backup.

Paille, Bart, Campbell gone... I'd like to keep McQuaid if he'd stay for around ~2m. If Soderberg wants anything north of 4m then I think you let him walk. It's why I wanted to trade him. I originally wanted to re-sign him but he fell off the face of the earth. I don't want to commit a lot of money to him long term. We'll probably be in a cap crunch next summer as well, you can save 3-4m by using Spooner and his speed fills a bigger hole.

Question...If the blues don't do anything in the playoffs this year (which is quite possible) they may wanna shake up their lineup.

Does Eriksson Krejci for Backes Oshie make sense?? Here is why...

Step 1) We give up 11.75 in salary by trading Kejci and Eriksson and get 9.25 in return for Backes and Oshie, we save 2.5 Million

Step 2) Sign UFA Glencross for 3.5

Step 3) Sign Paille for 1.75 (because at 1.75 he does a great job as a penalty killer and a 4th liner)...

Step 4) Trade Smith Seidenberg Krug (too expensive for a 5th D man) for Hampus Lindholm and 2nd pick

Step 5) Trade Kelly for Ekholm (Nashville young D)

Step 6) Sign Johnny Boychuk for 6 Million 5 years

Step 7) Sign a 13th Forward for .85

Lucic 6 (sign 6.5 for 7 years next year) Spooner .8 (2 yrs) Pastranak .925
Marchand 4.5 Bergeron 6.5 Connolly 1.25 (2yrs)
Glencross 3.5 (3 yrs) Backes 4.5 (sign long term 6.5 for 6 yrs) Oshie 4.175
Paille 1.75 (3 yrs) Talbot .875 Ferlin .925
13th Forward .85

Total 36.55

Hamilton 3.5 (3 yrs) Chara 6.9
Boychuk 6 Lindholm 1.744 (sign 3.5 for 3 yrs for next year)
Miller .8 Ekholm 1.038 Morrow .833

Total 20.815

Rask 7
Subban 1.463

Total 8.463

Total Salaries 65.828

if they didn't want soderberg back, why didn't they trade him at the deadline? so lose him for nothing? Also someone said he has not be good this year? Was second leading scorer most of the year and he's made erikrsson better. don't forget Kelly is on the that line, not much to work with there.

smith/krug deals are horrible!

I love Boychuck as much as the next B's fan, but I think $6mil/5 year contract is pretty high for him. Not to mention the fact that we're giving up one of our top 5 (maybe even top 3) overall players in the Krejci move.

I'm hoping some GM gives Yakupov or Schultz a ridiculous contract in retaliation to what Kevin Lowe gave to Dustin Penner a few years ago. I would love to see that presser Lowe complaining somebody throwing a grenade at him and his team.

I Would take Backes over Krejci any day

And it would be a bad choice.

As for the rest of your proposals,

Why on earth would Anaheim be adding to Lindholm in that deal? They wouldn't deal him for those 3 alone
Nashville wouldn't trade Ekholm for Kelly
Boychuk's gonna get better offers than that,
And the Bruins reportedly weren't a team Glencross was willing to waive his NTC for, so why should he sign here barring an overpayment (which we shouldn't do)

I'm leaning towards the following;

Hamilton, 2 years between 7 and 8 million
Spooner, 1 way deal for 800 or 900K
Connolly, about 1.2 or 1.4 on a one year deal
McQuaid, 2 years around 3.5 to 4

the like to see them do the following;
Cheap backup veteran goalie at around 800K
Tootoo on a two year deal about 1.6'ish

Might have to trade Kelly still to fit under the cap before they can active the LTIR, if they do, they could re-sign Paille on the cheap and let Talbot center the 4th line

Lucic-Krejci-Connolly
Marchand-Bergeron-Eriksson
Smith-Spooner-Pastranak
Paille-Talbot-Tootoo

Chara-Hamilton
Krug-Seidenberg
Morrow-McQuaid

Rask
Backup

Cap space to sign or trade for a veteran defenseman after we activate the LTIR

I hope for Hamilton you mean 7-8m total not per year

I think that is absurdly high for Boychuk, and sadly I suspect he will get more than that if he does choose to go UFA. I could easily see some fool organization (Edm) offering 7/42 maybe even 45

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Soderberg. They could let him walk and go with Spooner as the 3rd C, but I'm not convinced the brass trusts Spooner's defensive game as much. He's been helping the PP though, so who knows.

A third line of Eriksson - Spooner - Pastrnak would be interesting.

But Soderberg has shown that loyalty is important to him. He stayed in Sweden all those years to help his hometown team. If he feels that there's a task to complete in Boston - unfinished business - maybe he'd be inclined to stay at a reasonable price?

Why would Bart do that? I assume he goes UFA, and someone will give him 4-5 years, probably at more than 3 million per year

Seventh defensemen don't get three million a year. Bartkowski will be lucky to get a one way contract.
