Hm. I dont know too much about our "depth" prospects, so I start building my dreams for easier ones. When we can officially sign these guys?

Ryan O'Reilly hopefully gets locked up very long term, 6M per year deal. Hoping we could get the deal closer top 5.5M, but I screamed so many times this season PAY THE MAN! that main thing is just to lock him up almost no matter the cost.

Jamie McGinn part of the team too, and he can play any line in top9. Around 2.5M per year and 2-3 years sounds reasonable.

I had my hopes high on Hishon and I totally loved what I saw from him in his playoff games. Get him a new contract, give him a full season in AHL (call up if needed) and we'll see if he can get a full time roster spot for 15-16 season. Hoping that for next season seems a lil far fetchd as there aint space for him.

Tyson Barries new contract has been discussed earlier too, and I saw someone suggesting 4years, 3.5 per deal. Sounds very reasonable, and that might end up being a steal for us. Propably will get a 2-3 years 2.5-3M deal tho.

Elliott should be either traded or resigned as one of three players competing for bottom pairing spot in NHL.

Great list, thanks. I'm excited to see who is going to get a contract.

One question, if the expiration on the draft picks is June 1 will we know by then if those guys will get contracts or not? I recall the Avs announcing a bunch of contracts on like July 5th last year. Just wondering if we should anticipate the same sort of thing?

So are we still at the end of this year's draft because of our season ranking, or...?

I believe we are set to draft at spot number 26-28. We were bounced in the first round, but both Ana and Bos are still in. So, hypothetically, if they get eliminated before the SCF, it goes:

30- SC winner
29- SC loser
28- BOS
27- Ana
26- COL

I think that's how it works. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Don't forget New Jersey. It's SC winner, loser, WC and EC loser then division winners. So we are looking at 23-25th. Better pick if Boston or Anaheim don't make the WC/EC finals.

I think this is how it works. Though, remember NJ has the 30 pick. Beyond that, it just depends if BOS or ANA go to the SC Finals. I think we will be the 25-27 pick.

I really don't know why there is confusion on this... it is 23-25 depending on what Boston and Anaheim do. Look at last year's draft order and it is pretty easy to figure out.

My predictions:

FORWARDS
- Ryan O'Reilly [5 million - QO 6.5 million] -signed long-term 5-8 years at $5.9m
- Jamie McGinn [1.75 million] - either resigned to a 3-4 year deal worth $3m per or traded
- Joey Hishon [900,000K] - he showed enough to get another deal, 1 or 2 year 2 way deal
- Paul Carey [675,000K] - probably re-signed, but wouldn't be shocked to see him not be qualified though
- Mark Olver [600,000K] - not qualified

DEFENSE
- Tyson Barrie [715,000K] - re-signed to a bridge deal in the 2 year $3m per range
- Stefan Elliott [843,333K] - re-signed to a 1-2 year deal
- Karl Stollery [550,000K] - re-signed to a 1 year deal

GOALERS
- Kent Paterson [627,500] - he seems to have earned an AHL spot, but that won't likely happen here, rights traded would be my guess
- Kieran Millan [626,500] - not qualified

RIGHTS
- Joesph Blandisi, F [Expires: 6/1/2014] - signed
- Troy Bourke, F [Expires: 6/1/2014] - signed
- Michael Clarke, F [Expires: 6/1/2014] - let go
- Nathan Condon, F [8/15/2014] - signed
- Jonas Holos, D [Until 7/1/2015] - not signed, outside chance of a 6th/7th round pick rights trade
- Luke Moffatt, F [8/15/2014] - let go
- Denis Parish, F [Until infinity] - not signed
- Tomas Vincour, F [Until 7/1/2018] - not signed
- Luke Walker, F [Until 7/1/2017] - not signed
- Gus Young, D [8/15/2014] - signed

That is 11 signings to go with 32 existing contracts for 43 contract spaces with ~3 spots available in the NHL (not including potential buyouts).

25-27

At best it would be:
30- NJ
29- SCF W
28- SCF L
27- Bos
26- Ana
25- Col

Last year it went

30th - Chicagon (Cup champ)
29th - Boston (Cup runner up)
28th - Pittsburgh (Conference runner up with the most points)
27th - LA (Conference runner up with least points - didn't win the division)
26th - Anaheim (Division winner with most points)
25th - Montreal (Division winner with 2nd most points)
etc.

30th NJD
29th Cup winner
28th Cup runner up
27th Conference runner up with the most points
26th Conference runner up with the least points
25th Division winner with most points (Colorado if Boston and Anaheim are in the conference finals)
24th Division winner with the 2nd most points
23rd Division winner with the 3rd most points (Colorado had more points than Pittsburgh, so this is the best that Colorado can pick)

Nope. Henchman is right.

If both Anaheim and Boston do not make it to the Conference Finals, the Avs will pick 23rd in the first round.

Because you then, will have that order: 30- Jersey
29- Stanley Cup Champions
28- Stanley Cup Finalists
27- Conference Final Finalist
26- Conference Final Finalist
25- Boston
24- Anaheim
23- Avs

You are missing the Western and eastern conference losers.

30. NJ
29. SC W (Chicago)
28. SC L (Pittsburgh)
27. EC L (Boston)
26. WC L (Anaheim)
25. Highest remaining division winner (Colorado)

Anaheim and Boston have to just make the conference finals to lock us in at 25. The only way it would look any different is if something like this happened.

30. NJ
29. SC W (LA)
28. SC L (Pittsburgh)
27. WC L (Chicago)
26. EC L (Montreal)
25. Highest remaining division winner (Boston)
24. Second highest (Anaheim)
23. Third highest (Colorado)

How high/long would people here go for Barrie and McGinn contracts?

Barrie - either bridge deal of 2 year $7m total ($6m should be the target) or 6 year $24m... so big incentive for bridge deal, limit risk on long term deal
McGinn - no more than 4 years $12m

I want McGinn around for a while. Roy says he wants to get bigger, trading away one of his more physical top 9 guys doesn't do that. I say try to get McGinn on a 4 year deal in the $12-13M range. He's the perfect glue guy up front.

Barrie is harder to tell as he still hasn't played a full NHL season. I think Roy and company will go for a bridge deal, something around 2 years at 6M.

Olver's like Sgarbossa. They had some good moments early, and then never followed it up.
