Well, we are 4-2-1 in the pre-season, not that it means anything. I mean, taking pre-season standings to mean anything is like taking being outshot by an "ahl" team in the pre-season to mean anything. It's all insignificant hockey that has too many games to begin with.

But it's hockey, so we all go crazy over it. We are Leafs Nation of course.

What we know for this game;

- Jonathan Bernier will make his 3rd start of the pre-season, and play his 2nd full game. Bernier has allowed just 2 goals, in the 95 minutes of action he has seen, including a 36 of 38 save performance against the Sabres on Sunday night.

- Stephane Robidas is likely to make his Maple Leafs debut on Friday. Robidas was cleared for contact last weekend, and has said he feels great. He signed a 3 year, 9 million dollar deal with the Leafs on July 1st. He has paired a lot with Dion Phaneuf in the practices he has taken part in.

- David Clarkson is expected (although still questionable) to return on Friday. He hurt his cheekbone in a fight against Sabres Cody McCormick, and had to see a face specialist, but Carlyle said he expected him to be ready for Friday's game.

- William Nylander and Josh Leivo will continue to battle it out for a spot on the NHL team. There appears to be a hole with Joffery Lupul and Nazem Kadri, and with Leivo lining up with them on Monday night, it's possible we see Nylander take that spot Friday.

REGULAR SEASON IS JUST ONE WEEK AWAY!

I hope Robidas can stay healthy all year as we desperately need his experience and presence - some one who can actually play some defence

Glad David Clarkson's ok and ready for this game already. Booth being out next week we'll need big bodies like clarkson throwing everybody around.

Why don’t we just have one injury thread that gets the OP updated like a bunch of other teams have?
One easy spot for ALL injuries seems like a no brainer to me...

Very curious to see what the D-pairings will be with Robidas in the lineup.

You gotta think that since it's the last preseason game that Holzer, Percy and Loov will all be in the line up ...

Rielly - Robidas
Percy - Polak
Loov - Holzer

Wouldn't be surprised to see Loov in there as a 7th d-man though, the talk seems to be that the final spot is between Percy and Holzer

Phaneuf - Robidas
Gardiner/Rielly - Polak
Percy - Holzer
Loov

One of Phaneuf, Gardiner or Rielly will be sitting IMO

I hope we see close to our full lineup. Give them all a full game together to get into the swing of things.

I'd like to see

JVR Bozak Kessel
Lupul Kadri Leivo
Nylander Holland Clarkson/Kozun
Komorov Santorelli Winnik

Phaneuf Robidas
Gardiner Pollak
Rielly Percy

Bernier

Santorelli will play over Leivo and Kozun. Frattin may play ahead of those two as well.

I think we're more likely to see something like this:

JVR - Bozak - Kessel
Nylander - Kadri - Lupul
Komorov - Winnik - Clarkson
??????? - Holland - Santorelli

Last spot will go to one of: Leivo, Kozun or Frattin

If Nylander doesn't stay with the Leafs, they probably move Santorelli up to the second line, but those other three have a chance to play there too.

Also, not sure how the bottom two lines will shake out and which one would be considered the 3rd and 4th... might be hard to tell.

On defense, it's anyone's guess. Even with everyone healthy, I still wasn't sure what the plan was. I wouldn't be surprised if they go with something like:

Percy - Phaneuf
Gardiner - Polak
Rielly - Robidas

It seemed like the plan was always for Gardiner and Rielly to play with Polak and Robidas... so it's hard to know what the plan is now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the last preseason game before the show starts was for getting an almost complete team iced with the proper lines that will be starting come opening night. With maybe those 2 or 3 last spots to be fought for among the bottom 6 and 3rd D-pairing. So I would expect to see our full top 4D in the lineup and in the pairings that they plan on playing them come opening night. Maybe they sit Rielly because he's probably not in the top4. But I don't think they're going to give Loov a realistic look on the last game. It's too late for that. As you said it's between Percy and Holzer for that last spot. But if someone were to get injured tonight we would need Loov as a 7th. That's really his only value at this point.

Per Siegel, Robidas will play tomorrow. Likely paired with Phaneuf

They just said on the radio that Kessel has left the morning skate, and Frattin is now skating on the top line in his place.

Great, just what we needed:shakehead:
Maybe just precautionary

Don't like having Robidas with Phaneuf, rather have this
Gardiner - Phaneuf
Robidas - Rielly
Franson - Polak
Holzer, Percy

Potential Leafs lineup taking shape at practice: JVR-Bozak-Kessel. Lupul-Kadri-Leivo. Komarov-Holland-Nylander. Winnik-Santorelli-Kozun.

@jonasTSN1050 · 1 hr 1 hour ago
Matt Frattin notably not amongst first four forward lines. Clarkson participating in practice but given injury seems unlikely for Friday.

@jonasTSN1050 · 1 hr 1 hour ago
Stephane Robidas will play tomorrow and is paired with Phaneuf. Gardiner-Polak, Percy-Rielly (Holzer) the other pairings.

Kessel looked fine leaving the rink. Doesn't appear to be anything to be serious.
