May 3, 1987 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit and Glen Hanlon and the Red Wings have just shut out the Maple Leafs in game 7 of the Norris division final. The Red Wings turned things around by winning three straight games after being down 3-1 in the series. Hanlon also had a shutout in game 5.

Jacques Demers in his first season as the Red Wings coach and Joey Kocur (22) are happy about going to the Campbell Conference Final, to face the Edmonton Oilers that had swept the Winnipeg Jets almost a week earlier.

Kocur's cousin Wendel Clark (20) was arguably Toronto's best player in the series with four goals and six points in the series, but it's hard to be happy about that after losing the series.

When the Red Wings swept the Blackhawks in the first round it was the first time they had won a playoff series since reaching the Stanley Cup final and losing to the Canadiens back in 1966.

If you don't consider the two game playoff qualifyer that they won against the Atlanta Flames in 1978.

It was the first time they had won more than one playoff series since winning the Stanley Cup against the Canadiens in 1955.

The Red Wings won game 1 of the Campbell Conference final against the Oilers, but lost four straight to the eventual Cup winner.

Jack Adams left a phenomenal legacy, which included seven Stanley Cup championships, twelve first place finishes and enshrinement in the Fort William Hall of Fame, the Michigan Hall of Fame, the Detroit Red Wings Hall of Fame and in 1959, the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is the only person to have his name engraved on the Stanley Cup as a player, as a coach and as a general manager.
