At this point, what will it take to get rid of him? He is the most useless player on our team (close to DiPietro). Slow, doesn't create opportunity, or even sync with a line.

So seriously, what the hell are they doing with him still in the lineup?

Yeah..we might even trade him to another team for a playoff run.

Keep in mind folks...Everytime we think we are ok, then injuries hit, then we find out we have no depth at that position. We may just keep him for depth. If we start pulling people left right an center from the A, then we got no depth if those guys get injured.

Marty Marty Marty your taking a roster spot from a young guy that can actually play. I say trade him and Bailey to the KIngs for Penner and a draft pick

45 more games then he is a UFA

There you have it.

He's going nowhere until his contract runs out.

Get used to seeing him in that 4th line capacity from here on out...

Once Bailey and Joensuu are back, then we'll see which of Cizikas, Ullstrom and McDonald land back down on the farm. This shortened season will be given those under NHL contracts and figuring out some of the waiver wire pickups.

Aside:
As much as I feel Bailey's future is and should be on the wing, preferrably the right side, I actually wouldn't mind seeing Martin-Bailey-Joensuu at some point. Even if it pushes Aucoin to the fourth (with PP spot duty), guys like Reasoner, Boulton and then (I'm assuming) McDonald will just have to fill in on the lower lines - and be on the ice as minimally as possible.

Love the kid and thoroughly believe he's part of the answer in the future. He could easily stick around this season, especially if injuries start playing a bigger role up front.

Of course, the Islanders obviously aren't making decisions based solely on hockey capability and acumen at the moment. They're also giving out ice time to several guys for a number of reasons that aren't necessarily "To give the team the best possible chance of winning."

Look no further than the title of this thread.

Now, based on contracts (like, who'd have to go through waivers upon being sent down), I don't think Ullstrom is so much of a difference at this point from McDonald and Aucoin that he wouldn't be a guy - together with Cizikas - to get sent down ASAP when Bailey and Joensuu come off the IR since he would not need to go through waivers. That fact alone could have him on the farm by the end of next month.

In addition, when he has a bad period (the 1st was positionally brutal for him last night), gotta think it'll weigh heavier on his shoulders from the decision-makers' point of view than when such a period happens to a Reasoner, Aucoin or McDonald - who aren't necessarily answers in the future.

BPort:
Between our own kids and the new waiver wire guys (should the majority make it down there without being claimed), that club could have a serious shot at a long playoff run. This can only be of great benefit to all of our kids. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Snow looks to start packing that team when and if the Isles float out of playoff contention.

Just imagine that team heading into the playoffs as follows:

G:Nilsson-Poulin

D:
Donovan-Strait
Wishart-Hickey
Finley-Ness
Landry-Hill
(Hamonic???)

F:
Ullstrom-Nelson-Niederreiter
Kabanov-Aucoin-McDonald
Persson-Cizikas-Sundstrom
DeFazio-Riley-Gallant
Costello-Combs-Backman
Halmo

Or something like that...

Reasoner was always the definition of fringe NHLer/4th line & PK defensive specialist.
He is 35 and has lost his jump and mobility. What he has left is that he is good in the faceoff circle, and that is about all. He cant scoreand actually hurts his linemates scoring chances. Cappy puts him in when we need to win a late game defensive zone face off.
So far JT is not doing well in the face off circle and Frans is a <50% man. Only Aucoin is a >50% guy and hopefully Snow understands that Reasoner hurts more than helps and can be replaced on that 4th line by Aucoin. Then just waive Reasoner.

Hopefully some team will think he's got something left, and if the injuries in the league mount because of the compact schedule, will send us a 6th or 7th. Otherwise he's worthless.

Unfortunately, they've invented a way to record games and watch video tape.

Who the hell is going to trade for him? Hes a crap player Garth can try and sell him all he wants but anyone with eyes can see hes garbage.. There's only two ways to get rid of him: Cut/waive him or let him play the rest of season out.

Which young player getting 20 minutes a night in Bridgeport would you prefer take 5 minutes a night in his spot on the 4th line?

that may be true. However, i doubt that reasoner is waived when JJ and Bailey return. Apparently we are gonna hold onto that trash.

My opinion of him has changed. Perhaps my expectations have simply been lowered.....

Either way, he's done fine in his 4th line center role thus far this year.

Nothing more to say.

Nobody needs to be called up and buried on the 4th line..... Bailey or Joensuu should be back soon and when one of them returns, make Reasoner the casualty. Give Cizikas the 4th line center spot and 10-12 minutes a game instead of the 5 minutes a game he is currently getting on the wing. I thought Cizikas earned the 4th line center spot last year as he was impressive when called up.

How about:

Grabner - Tavares - Okposo

Moulson - Aucoin - Bailey

Ullstrom - Nielsen - Boyes

Martin - Cizikas - Joensuu/McDonald/Boulton

I think that is 4 pretty solid lines... All we need is Bailey back and Reasoner to sit in the press box as Cizikas takes his spot.
