Mitch Marner was the winner of the last poll.

Feel free to add any suggestions for the next poll. Don't expect me to know who you want me to add, if you want someone in the poll, post it.

I've decided to remove Babcock and turn it into a trade-able assets only poll.

1st overall 2016 pretty easily. After this one it gets tricky. To stick with the trend of the 2015 draft, add our two 3rd round picks, Dzierkals and Nielsen. Both have looked very impressive so far this year.

Why was Babcock taken off the list?! He is next after 2016 1st

Yeah, frankly for me he was next so tough to vote with him weirdly being removed now.

As I said in the OP, it's only trade-able assets. I could add him back, but people were complaining when I added him too...

I'll add him back if enough people ask for it.

If you include Babcock then do you have to include Dubas, Lou, Hunter, the fans?

I vote to keep it as tradable assets :)

Based on the current and changed state of the poll (which I'm not in favor of, but not my poll) then JVR is the next one easily.

A first round pick that could end up anywhere doesn't have as much trade value as a first line winger.

This was my thinking. I figured it would be too hard to compare management/coaching vs players/prospects

I would generally agree, but there's a very good chance our pick will be in the top 5. As valuable as JVR is, I would take a top 5 pick, in what looks to be another highly talented draft, over him.

I am not going to vote for 2016 or future picks as they are not our assets as yet, let's talk about 2016 draft pick next year

uh do you know what an asset is? It's something that holds value that you own.

We can trade it if we so choose, it has value, so it most certainly is an asset, it's just not a known player yet.

No I don't even after working in accounting field for over 30 overs :sarcasm:

If I was a GM of another team, out of those assets I would want the 2016 first the most. You're looking at top 10 pick with high probability of being top 5 and a decent chance at the lottery.

I voted for Kadri because you could get more for him than our draft pick. He's really good.

Then JVR.

Then the 1st next year.

That is your future asset and so are any years in future (i.e. 2017, 2018 and so on) - and I said we should talk about 2016 (next year), so what's wrong with it?

we can use it right now to make us better if we wanted to. We can trade it away so it's a current asset we can use.

2017 and 2018 1sts are current assets too as we can trade them. I think 3 years is as far as you're allowed to trade picks so 2019 pick would not be a current asset and I wouldn't include it in this poll.

I took Kadri. At some point you have to start taking actual NHL players. Kadri is more valuable than our 1st round pick next year, come on.

isn't Babcock (and Shanahan) et.al assets in their own right?
(sorry, I just read the "tradeable" part - but i honestly think they need to be considered.

I think this one is over.

So is a proven goal scorer, who is only 26 years old, worth more than a potential point producer who is 25?

26 years old
6'3", 200 lbs.
30 and 27 goals past 2 seasons
under contract at 5 million for another 2 years

This isn't a popularity contest ...
