Pretty simple, here. I'm going to be ranking the best 50 players to have donned the Flaming C from the beginning of the 1999-2000 season to the present. Starting today, at 2 PM.

I'll be posting 5 of these every game day until the last ten come. Those will be posted on consecutive days, one after another.

The suspense is killing me!

Why don't you list the 50 players and the fans vote? Makes it more interactive and fun.... Just an idea. :)

Gulik is too obvious at #1; I would have gone Dallas Eakins for his preformance in '02
Domenichelli obviously missed his name a bit too awesome? over-shadowed his on ice play I guess.
And should have included Albelin maybe not the same skill level as many of these players but in the early days of hockey video games he could really take a ton of Albelin penalties.

Booooooooooooooo. He was our second-leading scorer at one point. We should have been able to get something of value.

Heatley once had 50 goals as well.

Savard took a bad turn quick. He stopped producing, and was becoming an issue. He said he wanted out, and the Media had a field day. His effort stopped entirely. He just didn't care. There was also a lot more going on behind the scenes. Craig Button actually said in an interview that he didn't handle the situation as well as he could have.

Everything you've written here is correct. I wish I could go back and change things, but I already hit the post button.

Savard was an immature brat while a Flame, he ended up maturing but when a player feuds with a coach and does so publicly it's better to move the player IMO.

Another trade with a ****** return was Val Bure and Jason Weimer to the Panthers for Rob Niedermayer. Funny enough Bure and Weimer were dealt because they had a feud and were disrupting the room so the Flames just dumped them both.

#50 - Chris Drury

#50

CHRIS DRURY

Time with Calgary: October 1, 2002 - July 3, 2003
Statistics with the Flames: 80 GP, 23 G, 30 A, 53 PTS, 33 PIM, -9
Acquired: Traded to Calgary with Stephane Yelle for Dean McAmmond, Derek Morris and Jeff Shantz
Jersey Number(s) with Calgary: 37, 18
Salaries with Flames: 2002-03 - $2,500,000
Other Teams: Colorado Avalanche, Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers
Career Achievements: Hobey Baker Award, Calder Trophy, Two-Time Olympic Silver Medallist
Drafted: 3rd Round, 72nd Overall, 1994 - Quebec Nordiques

Career with Flames:

After being traded to Calgary from Colorado just prior to the beginning of the 2002-03 NHL Season, Drury wore Dean McAmmond's old #37. Drury had a fine season with the Flames, scoring 23 goals and adding 30 assists for a fine 0.66 PPG average in 80 games. Missing only two games in the season, Drury was one of the Flames' best players in 2002-03, finishing only behind Jarome Iginla and Craig Conroy on the Flames' scoring list that year. Later in the year, the Flames re-acquired McAmmond from the Avalanche for a 5th round pick, forcing Drury to take his old #18 his days in Colorado, despite McAmmond not being able to play in any of the Flames' games after he came back.
Known as a clutch player, Drury's strong efforts during the season still weren't enough to push the Flames to the playoffs for the first time since 1995-96, however, as the Flames were stuck behind four other playoff teams in the Northwest Division, and he was traded for the second time in under a year at the season's end - this time, on July 3, 2003 to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Steven Reinprecht and Rhett Warrener, frustrating Drury. Despite this quick exit, Drury still made a great impact on the Flames, not only with his play, but also with the players that he brought with him, and in exchange for him, to the Flames through his two trades, making himself ever deserving of the 50 spot.
