Do not ask me why. It's a secret.

Just kidding - I am working on something, and I want to see how my opinions compare to yours.

Rank these goalies:

Miikka Kiprusoff
Curtis McElhinney
Vesa Toskala
Henrik Karlsson
Leland Irving
Joey MacDonald
Reto Berra
Danny Taylor
Karri Ramo
Jonas Hiller
Joni Ortio

(By the way - that is ELEVEN goaltenders that the Flames have had in the last five years. For comparison purposes, here is the list of goaltenders that the Flames had the five years before that: Kiprusoff, McElhinney, Curtis Joseph, Jamie McLennan, Brian Boucher, Matt Keetley (sort of), and Philippe Sauve. Six and a half.)

Incomplete. I don't see Brandon Bollig anywhere on this list.

How is McElhinney #4? He was terrible for the Flames. And Toskala was actually pretty good outside one start.

My list would be

1. Kipper

2. Hiller
2. Ramo

4. Vesa Toskala

5. Reto Berra
5. Leland Irving
5. Joni Ortio
5. Joey MacDonald

9. Danny Taylor

@classroom, forgot Karlsson

My list is similar, but I'd have Karlsson with Toskala and Taylor would be on the bottom.

Also, add Makarov
Why does everyone have Toskala on the bottom? I feel like it's based on his Leafs reputation and not how he actually played for us. He played 6 games, 3 were relief appearances. He only had 1 bad game and received a fairly quick hook.

Game 1: 27 saves in a 5-2 win
Game 2: 8 saves on 8 shots in relief (Kipper gave up 3 in the first period and was pulled)
Game 3: 32 saves in a 3-2 win
Game 4: gave up 3 goals in 9 shots and was pulled.
Game 5: 6 saves on 6 shots in relief (Kipper gave up 5 and was pulled about 6 minutes into the 3rd)
Game 6: 7 saves on 8 shots in relief (Kipper gave up 6 and was pulled about 4 minutes into the 3rd)
.
2-0-0 record, 2.26gaa and .918sv% with a crappy game in there. Outside of that poor game he had a .941sv%

The problem IMO is Brent SUtter is a terrible coach and stopped giving Toskala starts after 1 poor outing.

Roughly this. A lot of these guys were super unmemorable, and I think the bottom 5 are nearly interchangeable in terms of how well they played (obviously there's a difference between 34 year old Toskalol and 24 year old Ortio, but performance wasn't that dissimilar overall).

* Ortio's been brutal this season, but he was solid in 2013-14 and 2014-15. I expect him to bounce back this year too.

So I looked at hockeydb and hockey reference because I barely remember some of these guys, and I decided to rank them by saves.

So, this is a ranking of Flames by saves since the start of the 2009-2010 season

1. Kiprusoff ~5000
2. Ramo ~2000
3. Hiller ~1400
4. Giordano 821
5. MacDonald ~740
6. Berra ~700
7. Karlsson ~570
8. Russell 555
9. Brodie 441
10. Bouwmeester 428
11. Butler 400

Behold, the top 11 goalies for the Flames.
