This thread was done about 6-7 months ago and Theodore walked away with it.

I'm curious to see if anything has changed since then as the season is over. Also added in Manson who is definentely a different type of defenseman just to spice it up a little bit.

I'm not talking about just now, but now and the future who do you take regardless of fit, team, contract, or anything. Purely the player and nothing else.

Ps- Without doing every possible combination just pick one for the poll, and rank them in the comments.

Is my best guess. I think Theodore tops out as a Justin Schultz type, Larsson likely ends up as a solid number 4 guy, Montour may end up as a low end top pairing guy (his upside is probably higher but chances he hits it are small) and Manson stays a solid number 2-3.

At first I was very confused, thinking Larsson was on my own team. Kinda forgot about him therefore I am taking him out of the equation.

Manson
Montour
Theodore

Manson left me angry and frustrated in the playoffs. That's the kind of feeling I should have with another team's D.

Manson is the best of the group, love the way he plays.

Theodore gets caught looking like a pylon way too often. Overall though, ANA can really scout D.

So what happened over the past 6 months? Theodore walked away with the last poll with a ratio of 4 or 5 to 1 to all the other guys?

Curious as I am / was an Ottawa fan...now a Vegas super-fan and know very little about any of these guys.

Things can change, I didn't like what I saw from Theodore in the playoffs and felt Manson/Montour passed Theodore by but he can certainly get better in the right situation/environment. I wish Theodore the best and will enjoy following his career.

Montour has the most high end upside of the bunch. Manson is the most bankable right now as he's already a proven contributor.

Theodore and Larsson are fairly close for me. Theo has a slightly higher ceiling due to offensive ability, but I'd argue that Larsson is a safer bet to munch minutes. Might end up being a toss up depending on whether you're more looking for offense/PP ability or defensive efficiency.

Manson is the best player of these 4, but he's already 25 and his ceiling isn't higher than a 2nd pairing shut down guy.

Montour looked really good as a rookie, especially in the playoffs. He excels at getting his shots through traffic and he's already a master at missing wide for a deflection. His defense will need to improve, but he shows grit and a lot of heart for a guy his size.

Theodore is a good offensive defenseman for the regular season, but seemingly every playoffs he gets pushed around by bigger and stronger forwards. His minutes will need to be sheltered through his career, but he has potential as a power play specialist like David Schlemko, but more in the 30 point range.

Larsson only played 4 games in the NHL, and he looked good; but his sample size is too small to compare to the rest of these guys.
