I honestly dont believe this news but NYR would absolutely be the highest level of stupid if they got rid of Laf at this stage.

He deserves at least 2/3 more years.

i dunno. if he doesn't take significant jumps, his value will is going to tank hard in 2/3 years. if NYR FO thinks the kid doesn't have it, they should trade him now. and yeah, that might blowup spectacularly but so far Laf what has done in the NHL, suggests that he won't be an elite player.
