Diving even deeper, going back to January 5 of 2020, Schneider has 7 goals, 38 points and is a plus 22 in 42 games.

Despite some initial cries that we drafted McIlrath 2.0, he actually only has one fighting major since in the WHL since Nov. 5, 2019.

I remember the McIlrath comparisons when me drafted K'Andre too. Hopefully they end up being just as accurate.

If Vierling is going to try to sign a pro contract and sneak into some AHL or ECHL games before the year is out, it would be now. Not much time left...

I suspect he may be consciously choosing to sit out the season, but still.

If a team is interested, he should jump at the opportunity. Not sure teams are interested in adding players this late into the season, and if Vierling would be on their radar though.

It does seem quite unlikely. As I said, my guess is that he chose to not look for a pro deal. Almost every other player from the OHL in his draft class signed a pro deal at some point, whether here or overseas. I stated early on his lack of physical development would make him a good bet to wait out the OHL, but that was months and months ago. It's not like he's the weakest guy in the draft class. I'm sure he could have found a spot somewhere (particularly with NYR's assistance) if he really wanted to. Maybe he just didn't want to for whatever reason.

I also think the Mariners sitting out the entire season limited options a bit. Sure, you can sign elsewhere, but an entire team not playing results in spots on other teams being filled by those players.

At the end of the day, we were never going to see all players find a spot in the AHL or ECHL. Vierling is the only one who hasn't played this season out of our draft picks. It sucks, but I won't lose any sleep over it

Yup, agreed. It has also hurt someone like Wall. Wall is not ready for the AHL, and it really would have helped to send him down and let him be the regular starting goaltender down there. Same for Cuylle--while he has done fine in the AHL, I feel like if there was a Mariners season, he would have done well to spend the year down there.

Pajuniemi had a secondary assist and ENG today to help his team even things 1-1 with Pelicans.

Lundkvist is playing today as well. Game 7 for his guys.

Kamloops and Garand, who has had a crappy start, play tonight.

According to this report in Forever Blueshirts Pajuniemi is not going back to Finland next year but not necessarily coming to NY. Considering KHL and SHL.

Rangers Roundup: Lauri Pajuniemi may play in KHL next season, predicting Zac Jones debut, and more - Forever Blueshirts: A site for New York Rangers fanatics

Yes, I told the writer about the article LOL. I should have posted it in here as well, after posting it in the Pajuniemi thread

That is the plan. A year ago, Gorton and Bobrov had a talk with Pajuniemi and his agent and they told him they wanted him in Liiga for 1 more year.

But this interview with IS is a clever move. It puts some pressure on the Rangers, and indicates he isn't interested in being loaned back to a Liiga team next season.

It's Hartford, or him signing elsewhere. If it's the SHL, his rights still expire in 2022. If it's the KHL, his rights are extended indefinitely until he leaves that league.

Rykov managed a secondary assist as CSKA tied the Gagarin Cup Finals with Avangard 1-1. Rykov's line is interesting, 0-2-2 in 12 games with just 3 SOG. He has been scratched several times and doesn't play much when he is in the lineup, though he did play over 12 minutes today. He's not long for our organization.

Garand had possibly his best game last night, stopping 32/34 in a win over Kelowna. It's been tough sledding for him to this point.

Robertson picked up a scoring-change assist from earlier in the week, bringing him back to a PPG at 3-12-15 in 15.

I SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS DEVELOPING THIS OFFSEASON (BEFORE TRADES AND NEW SIGNINGS) - PERHAPS RONNING GETS ANOTHER CHANCE:..

thanks for taking the time to do this

i have mixed expectations about the Forwards you project as OUT
(especially if NYR continue to have headroom re total contracts)

(1) RE Gettinger, as I had cited re Fontaine last off-season, there is NO precedent for (a) a NYR drafted player who (b) spent his entire ELC in AHL (c) to NOT get QO

(2) Ronning fulfilling his scoring potential this season, maybe earns him a QO, as you noted,. He's maybe as valuable to HWP next season as a AAAA vet or AHL-contracted recruit or vet. And his scoring touch, plus bloodlines, may have some trade value later on

(3) Newell is having increased production from last season, NYR often do reward growth. But he is older. May have trade value especially to MN or CA teams where he has history
