LW Ryan Gropp won round 16. LW Dawson Leedahl is added to the poll.

WHO IS A PROSPECT:

SKATER PROSPECT: A player 24 or younger with 50 or fewer NHL games.

GOALIE PROSPECT: A player 25 or younger with 25 or fewer NHL games.

EXCEPTION 1: If a player completed the required 50/25 games, but is still not regarded as an NHL regular because he's shuffling between the NHL and the AHL, he could still be a prospect as long as he's 24 or younger and if agreed upon by most people here.

EXCEPTION 2: A player who is no older than 25 years old at the time of the vote and is a borderline NHLer could still count if agreed upon by most people here.

Please vote on who to add to the next round of polling.

Gettinger over Fontaine for me. Fontaine is closer, but Gettinger is younger, has been a little more productive in the OHL, and has more physical potential. Upside trumps likelihood for me at this point.

Meant to go with Fontaine last time, so I’m going with him here. I guess add Georgiev because he’s playing in the AHL right now

Geez, it is so unfair that a bunch of scrubs are already up there and neither Fontaine nor Crawley are. This is the typical penalty that our prospects always get here when moving up to the AHL. Few people understand just how much better the AHL is than the Juniors, so a point per game forward in the Juniors is thought to have offensive potential (he doesn't unless he's a late bloomer who will in the future breakout, but that's fewer than 1%), but a good, solid AHLer at the age of 20 has no upside.

The Juniors suck. They are below the ECHL in terms of their overall quality, which is why 100% of the players who move from the Juniors to the ECHL score less there (and goalies almost always give up more goals in the ECHL than the Juniors). Only abnout 4.5% of Junior players make the NHL, meaning you pretty much have to be the best player on your team to have even 50-50 odds of making it.

Meanwhile, a 20-year-old playing in the AHL on a two-way NHL contract has about a 40% chance of playing at least 1 full NHL season (80 games) and over a 20% chance of playing at least 400 games (usually someone playing 400+ games is a pretty good NHLer).

Fontaine, no way he should have been below Gropp. A year younger, similar point production, and a +2 on a bad team (compared to Gropp's team low -23)

When watching the Pack play, Fontaine is visible and Gropp is invisible. Spell that how you want, but one is better than the other.
