Shiny toy syndrome going on in these polls. Reunanen is being severely undrevalued.

agreed,
also he plays a position with a crowded pipeline,

but IMHO sorting out the guys from about #10 > #25 is not straightforward
~ Gauthier, Berard, Cuylle,
Reunanen, Richards, Gettinger
Lamb, Korczak, Vierling,
Henriksson, Edstrom, Tarnstrom
Skinner, Garand, Wall, Huska

these next ~dozen polls gonna be unpredictable with very balanced(split) voting

and my stab at that list doesn't even include guys who have their advocates:
Ronning, Khodorenko, Rueschhoff, Ciccolini

... or everyone's favorite 2ndRndG

Voted for Tarmo but no problem with it going to the other Finn. They are the next two.

I guess add Skinner? Korczak next?

Starting to get less exciting.

I don't think that's accurate at all. We have 12 guys up there and only 1 is from this recent draft. The next two are likely to be from the 2018 and 2016 drafts. We're going to get to 15 before we add our second pick from this draft. Barron and Gauthier are up there from four and five years ago. They'd be several spots higher, too, if Miller, Lafreniere, and Kravtsov didn't qualify.

I watched most of Reunanen a games last year and he looks like a defender who will struggle in his own end, doesn't excel at carrying the puck out of his own end, and will be reliant on PP time to put up points. This doesn't make him a worthless player, but I like the upside of a Pajuniemi better even if I have serious doubts that Pajuniemi reaches it.

If last year was a normal year and those three guys I mentioned weren't eligible, Reunanen is probably 11th in the poll which seems reasonable for an offensively-inclined bottom-pair defenseman. IMO.

We might have to agree to disagree here because although Reunanen struggled a bit defensively, he still brought his game to the team offensively and produced the most steady play as a top-2 defender for Hartford. No other defenseman on that team really showed any way to bump him down the lineup, nor should they with what he provided offensively. He also got a few games under the belt in the NHL whereas most of the players ranked above him on the poll have yet to produce at the level where Tarmo is at currently. We seem to forget too that Tarmo is a year removed from when he was logging 25+ minutes a night for the past two seasons in Liiga.

Think he easily flows in the top-10, especially since guys like Gauthier, Lafreniere, and Miller technically shouldn't be considered prospects anymore. In a normal year, they all would've been past their GP's to be considered as such (maybe not Gauthier on second thought). Even then, I think what he has brought as a prospect the last few seasons trumps guys like Othmann, Cuylle, and Berard ATM. Barron and Robertson are a few that I think could be debated to put over.

... And for the record, I watch the Hartford games too.

His last full season in Liiga he played more like 19 minutes and was stapled to the bench at times because his coach didn't like his defensive effort. I've said a few times recently that Liiga's overall quality of play has slipped in the past several years, so I'm less impressed by what he did there than I would have been, say, 10 years ago.

You're correct that no one consistently pushed him down the lineup in Hartford, but really, who would? The only other LD on the team were Sieloff and Geertsen. They're both okay AHL players, but one is a stay-at-home guy who provides no offense and the other is...Mason Geertsen. I mean look, credit to Reunanen for holding his own in the AHL; but there were several other guys that had good years on that team though that I don't exactly see as upside NHL players (Gettinger and Ronning, for example).

If you wanted to rank him above Berard, Cuylle, and Othmann, that's what, three spots? I don't think that's being severely undervalued.

I didn't mean to imply you didn't watch Hartford. I'm just pointing out that I've watched a lot of Reunanen, and my ranking of him (he'll get my vote next) is based off of what I've seen of him and not "shiny new toy" stuff. I only voted for one shiny new toy.
