If that were the case, he'd have signed with another team. Anyone would rather be a #6 on a bad NHL team than spend 70% of the season in the AHL and another 10% sitting in the rafters. If he could get himself a chance to play in the top-6, he'd have been there.
Right, he would have gotten a contract in early July. The league is short on defensemen that can play.
Well, Franson and Ehrhoff remained unsigned for the larger portion of the offseason so that's kind of a fallacy way of thinking.
But I agree, bellemore is at best, a fringe #6.
Both of those guys aren't reliable defensively and come with concerns regarding injury or production relative to their contract demands.
It's also a uncertain off-season with Canada entering recession and the UFA crop and limited cap space next year.
