There is a thread similar to this on the football board that is kinda fun, thought it might be cool to share some random//interesting things about our favorite actors.

Three right off the top of my head:

1 - Bill Paxton is the only person on the planet who has been killed by an Alien, a Predator, and a Terminator.

2 - Demolition Man was originally supposed to star Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme, but they both refused to play the role of Simon Phoenix (the bad guy), so they were replaced with Stallone and Wesley Snipes.

3 - Van Damme was originally supposed to play the Predator in the first movie, but was apparently difficult to work with and allegedly broke a crew members arm. Though uncredited, the first few times the Predator is on screen, it is actually Van Damme. Originally the Predator was supposed to be small and like a ninja, to counter-point how big Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, and Jesse Ventura were. Hence why they wanted Van Damme. After his dismissal however, they decided they wanted to go in the opposite direction and get someone so big, that they would make the humans look small. Soon after, 7'2" Kevin Peter Hall gave us the now iconic image of the Predator.

Norman Reedus auditioned to play Meryl Dixon on The Walking Dead but the part was given to Michael Rooker. They liked Reedus so much they created Daryl Dixon just for him.

Liza Weil auditioned for the part of Rory Gilmore but they knew she wasn't the right fit so they created the character Paris Geller just for her and Alexis Bledel got the part of Rory.

In Back To The Future they had filmed a lot of scenes with a different actor as Michael J Fox was busy. They ended up firing the actor and hiring Fox anyway and refilmed all the scenes with Marty.

There are a lot of facts about the Wizard Of Oz you guys should check out

Warren Beatty was originally supposed to play Bill in the Kill Bill movies, but Tarantino kept telling Beatty to play the part "more like David Carradine". Finally Beatty told him he should just hire David Carradine. So he fired Beatty and hired Carradine.

Although Harrison Ford had worked with Lucas before--Ford was actually hired to build the sets for Star Wars and Ford only ended up reading when a male actor did not show up for an audition read with another female who was reading for Lei--that Ford read for the role

Masi Oka of Heroes and Hawaii 5-0 fame got his acting card when he was working Lucas' skywalker ranch working on industrial films

Paul Newman first big break came in the movie "somebody up there likes me"--He got the role because of the death of James Dean who was originally cast in the role.

Steve MacQueen was also cast in roles that were either written for Dean or Dean has been cast in

Other Actors who ended up getting roles meant for James Dean? Marlon Brando, Jack Nickolson and Dennis Hopper

Too mask the shooting of Return of the Jedi--Lucas had all the signs on the production to read "Blue Harvest"

Casablanca was going to be called Everyone comes to Rick's--after the play it was based upon---but the studio changed it to Casablanca after the success of the movie called Algiers

There is either a famous missing John Wayne movie, giant conspiracy or a great Urban myth around the movie called "Thunder Riders of the golden West"--The original film went missing, lost or destroyed--but the guy making redid the movie in 1985 spicing in some footage Wayne into the movie. The move is on Youtube and it is bad

The ICONIC Hollywood or Hollywoodland was only supposed to be in place for one year to advertise the residential area being sold--called Hollywood

If you are curious why Actor X does not have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame--it is because they did not want to pay the $30'000 price it costs. Often fan clubs actual pay for the star or movie or TV studios. If the person is alive but says they wont attend--they wont get the star unless they are gravely ill

Mohamad Ali's star is not on the sidewalk but on a wall. Why? SO no one could walk on him

One reason why many film makers headed to Hollywood in the early days was to get away from Thomas Edison, who believed he owned the rights to make any movie and if the producers did not pay him the money he wanted--Edison would hire members of the early new york mob destroy their camera's

The set known as "The Quality Cafe" was used in over 1000 movie and tv series

During a location shoot for CSI one of the actors walked up kicked what they thought was a prop for the show and told the Prop master it was an unrealistic prop. The Prop master walked over and said "that aint a prop"--Turned out it was the remains of a junkie who had died shooting up

In the 1970 while doing a location turn out one of props of a dead body was real. When the police investigated--the person had died of natural causes in the 1950's but somehow was mummified and end up being bought as a movie prop. According to record the "prop" was used in over 100 movies and tv shows prior to the discovery

In spite it being reported, Tom Selleck could have played Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lose Ark--while it is true there was a TV actors strike--he could have shot Indiana Jones(since movie actors were not on strike) and still shot the Pilot after the strike ended--but Selleck decided he was enjoying Hawaii and decided he did not want travel all over the world in a very short time period(parts of raiders was filmed in 8 different countries)

Abe Vigoda was cast as Fish in Barney Miller because when he did the audition he portrayed a tired old detective perfectly--Vigoda had run a marathon right before the audition and was actually tired. Despite Fish always being tired--Abe Vigoda was a health freak

Although Harry Morgan replaced--Mclean Stevens and Morgan were good friends

Jamie Farr's role in MASH was based upon Lenny Bruce trying to stay out of the Navy. There were two versions of the Klinger role--one where Klinger was very camp.. half way shooting the episode it was decided to make Klinger a straight male who just happened to ware dresses

for the entire run of MASH Alan Alda would fly home friday to New Jersey and fly Back to to LA on Sunday night

you may notice Hoffman slipping into his new york accent in that scene

why?

To save costs parts of Midnight Cowboy were filmed gorilla style--without permits. That just happened and they ended up keeping it in the movie

Lee Emery was originally hired to be a consultant of Full Metal Jacket because he was a drill sergeant in the US Marine corps

The Vietnam scenes in Full metal jack were filmed on the Isle of Dogs here in London

this is how Isle of dogs looks in the 1980;s

the earliest known American pornographic film is the 1915 A Free Ride, a.k.a. A Grass Sandwich. The film was directed by “A. Wise Guy†and was written by “Will She.

The Real Wyatt Earp lived the last years of his life in California and was a regular on western movie sets. He spent most of his time trying to make sure history of what he did was his version of events.

Kevin Costner was the dead body seen at the start of the Big Chill and he had filmed many flash back scenes--but they were all cut. Lawrence Kasden felt sorry for it happening and 2 years later when prepping Silverado he made sure Costner as Jake

Michael Blake was an old Friend of Costner who was homeless for awhile. As a favour Costner let him stay with family while he tried to turn his life around, While living with Costner, Blake would read the book he was writing to Costner's daughter--the book ended up being called Dances with Wolves

Due to lax copywrite laws there was a bulgarian version of The Big Bang Theory--the actors quit after finding out it was a knock off of another show

Blade: Trinity. The reason why Ryan Reynolds did so much spontaneous ad-libbing? The vast majority of the time he was talking to Wesley Snipes' body double. Wes and the director David Goyer had been having troubles on the set; Wes went so far as to actually deck Goyer at one point. In response, he got some of the local union electricians (who just happened to also be in a certain bike club) to rough Snipes up and intimidate him. From then on, Snipes spent 90% of the time in his trailer smoking joints the size of cigars and only very rarely ventured outside for filming. After the rough stuff, most of the interaction between Snipes and Goyer took the form of handwritten notes signed "Blade" that Snipes would shove out of his trailer door.

Underworld

No, not the one with Kate Beckinsdale in form-fitting leather. The really, really ****** one with Denis Leary and Joe Mantegna.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120414/?ref_=nv_sr_8 <---That one. You haven't heard of it, don't say you have. It's a total piece of ****, but it was also filmed in Vancouver.

There's a scene where Leary and Mantegna (who play rival gangsters) are meeting in limos parked under bridges. Those bridges? The tangle of on and off ramps of the Arthur Laing bridge in south Vancouver. It leads to Richmond and the international airport. Also, about a hundred feet to the right of where those limos were was the entrance to the Wild Coyote nightclub at the time. They were filming at night, and despite the best efforts of their security, people kept on yelling and interrupting the shooting. Security got angrier and angrier, when it was noticed that one of them kept putting his hand over his face when he turned in the direction of the crowd in front of the nightclub. He was then quickly identified as a man who owed a very large gambling debt to someone inside the club, and he came out with his friends for a scrap.

So if you see that movie, know that it took about three hours to get a five minute shot filmed and eight people got arrested. Denis Leary looked very surprised.

True stories.

The role of Ripley in the first Alien movie was originally written for Veronica Cartwright, but wound up going to Sigourney Weaver. Cartwright was recast as Lambert.

The original script for Alien 3 was supposed to be set, not on a rocky and windy prison planet, bu instead on a forested planet in a monastery.

For Alien 3 there were a total of 18 different scripts by ten writers wrote for the movie--that does not include 6 writers brought in to rewrite several of the scripts that the ten writers wrote

Between 7 to 14 mill of the budget was spent before they shot a single frame of the movie

And they started filming before the script was even finished. I feel for David Fincher. Alien 3 is the Sci-Fi version of Day of the Dead. Both good movies that still hold up (imo anyway) but that could've been sooooooo much more.

One of my absolute favourite franchises is Jeepers Creepers. I loved both movies, and I hope to god JP3 actually happens. However the writer/director Victor Salva was arrested for child pornography and some sketchy things with a child on set in the 1980s. Pretty certain it was like oral sex with someone U14
