He was the only thing that I liked about Full Metal Jacket. I'm honestly not sure that that film would be remembered as well as it has been if it weren't for his performance which made the first half, which is the half that most seem to like best.

I, too, enjoyed the short-lived Mail Call series on The History Channel. The series, itself, wasn't that good, but he had so much personality and enthusiasm that just about anything with him in it was (and is) watchable.
