with Campbell signed and how well he played last season. What would it take to land Quick to the Canes?

I’m assuming one of the Canes goalies has to come back for salary purposes and they have 2 firsts for next years draft

is he worth acquiring right now

seems risky to send any value for 6 mill goalie after what happened last year at 33

Really hard to gauge value as he didnt have a great season last year and there is the risk of being saddled with an older fading goalie for however many years he has left.

I doubt we'd want another established lesser goalie back unless you are paying to dump them.

so perhaps

good d prospect + 2nd for quick

or

dumped goalie + 1st (+ depending on the contract) for quick

You would really be banking on quick bouncing back obviously.

Canes can't take on Quick's cap hit without moving a similar amount in return to the Kings or another team. A GM has to be a real river boat gambler to take a chance on Quick given his age, recent performance, and cap hit for the next 4 years.

Quick still has some value, just needs a change of scenery. The Oilers should have kicked the tires on Quick this summer instead of signing Mike Smith.

I think Columbus might be a better trade partner for the Kings if Korpisalo struggles to start the year.

nah smith is fine cuz its just a one year deal . I wouldnt mind a team taking quick if he plays fine towards the trade deadline but not the oilers.

hes never been a great regular season goalie imo and the oilers arent a sure thing to hit the playoffs this year at all ( i think hes always weirdly good in the playoffs )

A realistic Quick proposal is really hard because Kings fans know what he can do and the rest of the league knows what he hasn’t done lately.

I could see some package of Toffoli and Quick heading to Carolina for Reimer, Faulk, possibly some salary, and maybe some conditions on Toffoli and Faulk re-signing.

What were they going to offer? Giving up a top prospect is an automatic no. Giving up a 1st is off the table as well for a goalie who didn't just come off a strong season. I think LA would have asked for a lot more than Oiler's would be willing to part with.

Early in the offseason I could see it. But I don't know where Toffoli plays now. Early camp reports are:

Niederreiter Aho Dzingel
Svechnikov Staal Teravainen
Foegele Haula Necas
Mcginn Wallmark Martinook

I don't see Toffoli breaking into that top 6. I don't see Toffoli taking Necas's spot on the third line; Carolina wants to bring in Necas at that spot.

poeple will look at last year and offer nothing. Very fair to be concerned about but I still think there is value there.
I though Carolina and Buffalo would be good landing spots and seeing how LA needs D still are. At the start of the off season I thought Darling + something nice for Quick would have worked out.

Nothing. Kings would have to pay for the Canes to take him on at his age, contract and AHL caliber play last year.

Kings trades will have to come midseason or at the deadline. Players need to show they can still bring it. Other teams will rightfully remain skeptical until then.

Yes, just what the Oilers need, another terrible contract.
