Quality scoring chances

Has anyone ever found a place where these stats are kept? I know they are not an official stat but they are mentioned by the announcers enough to know that someone is keeping a tally on these for every game. I've searched but come up empty.

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that a quality scoring chance has to come from an area the shape of home plate jutting diagonally from the net to the bottom of the FO circles, then to the top of the FO circles, and then across. I don't know the criteria beyond that, but if someone is counting them during games there must be some kind of standard, subjective tho it may be. Albeit flawed to some degree, it could be a very useful stat to use. From this we could gain some insight into team defenses and add a "quality saves" stat to goaltenders. I'm not sure how long they've been counting it, but IIRC quality scoring chances have been listed between periods for a number of seasons.

Thanks for any help!
