The only issue with Malkin, Crosby, and Kessel is that they will have to make conscious efforts to shoot the puck and not get into those ruts where they are looking for the prettiest play. You have 3 guys who can handle the puck at an elite level, and they like being cute with it.

kessel can pass, but he likes to shoot more

I think with Perron and PH on one line and Kessel and a decent third wheel on the other, Sid and Geno can become better 200 ft players. They don't need to carry the puck as much. They don't have to be one man cycles like Geno had to be with Neal and Jokinen. And not everything has to run through them anymore.

It may take some time for them to adjust, but it's what's best for them and the team.

Bored.

They need to move at least one bad contract, they only have 3 proven top 6 wingers and the defense is green (if only they'd played the youth more and not hated Despres).

If the Penguins still want to sign a cheap 4C, Craig Adams is still available.....

Why?

I'm slightly surprised that Bylsma or Shero hasn't managed to collect the precious. But then again, Bylsma doesn't have Shero enabling him anymore and Shero probably got out all of his epic stupidity on his final **** you.

I'd be pretty surprised if Adams got a job this year.

Kessel likes to handle the puck. Just shoot the thing, Phil.

He's not a guy you want only shooting though. You want him to use his speed, puck carrying and playmaking to create space and find his center.

That'll be the "wtf" moment for Sid/Geno. I can see them not having their stick on the ice b/c they've never had a linemate who can set them up regularly.

It actually should be easier now, considering the skill they will be playing with. That being said, your point is still a good one. But the good news is that if they get in one of those ruts, an easy play will be to just give it to Kessel in the neutral zone and have him drive wide. I don't know how many times I've seen him blow by a defender wide to create a scoring chance. Then you just have everyone else crash the net, and that rut should end quickly. Nothing cute or fancy about it. Go with speed, drive/crash the net.

I think Kessel has the good kind of selfishness where he won't feel the need to defer or look for whomever his center is. He'll still be shoot-first. I'm not as confident in Geno or Sid doing the same.

So what's Scuderi's contract? Is it limited trade and no movement in the sense of not being able to send him to the AHL should he clear waivers? Or straight up NTC NMC?

It could end up being the pretty play holy grail of Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Kessel and Pouliot (?). It won't be a new problem for the Pens and I doubt adding another high end player will put an end to it. They might be more successful in it resulting in a goal with Kessel there.

I'd be pretty surprised if Adams got a job this year.

I'd be surprised because he's so awful, but then I wouldn't have been shocked if he'd ended up with one of his buddies. Watch him come back to Pittsburgh to work with the players.

So what's Scuderi's contract? Is it limited trade and no movement in the sense of not being able to send him to the AHL should he clear waivers? Or straight up NTC NMC?

Limited NTC for sure, probably a list of 8 teams that he can't be traded to, and the NMC is sometimes mentioned. I'd assume that the NMC stops him from being waived and assigned to the AHL along with his list of 8 teams as opposed to being a full one. Shero did a damn good job making Scuderi nearly impossible to trade if he's got that.

I guess nothing is really concrete because they lied about things to capgeek and presumably everyone else sometimes. :help:

I don't even want to know what Kunitz's contract looks like.
