A few quick questions:

1) Why not include him in the Hanzal deal?
2) Why not claim him on waivers?

I mean, we didn't give up anything here, so just confusing logistics.

In any event, nice body for the Coyotes or the RRs.

XX called it in the speculation thread. Pulkkinen being on waivers likely prevented him from being part of the deal. The fact that he went on to clear means that the Coyotes can send him down to Tucson without him having to clear again (I think). I like that they're making moves for the AHL team this year now it's close to home.

I'm wondering if we claim Pulkkinen and then attempt to send him back down to the Roadrunners with the understanding that the Wild won't immediately reclaim him. He's currently on waivers so I don't think he could have been part of the final deal. 36 pts in 47gp for the Wild's AHL team would help, especially if Fischer gets called up.

Yeah. Minnesota probably wanted to reset the waiver clock. That's why they, once again, put him on waivers.

Well, Pulkkinen is total crap. But at least our PP should improve with him. Just feed him the puck. This kidd has an absolute bomb of a shot. Just has to hit the net:cry:
Always scores in the AHL but, for some reasons, lots of missed shots in the NHL even on the PP and when he has time and space. Strange. To be fair though, he never had a chance in Minnesota. Failed in Detroit but never was more than a warm body for the Wild. They clearly never had the intention to play him.

I remember when people were hoping he would be the centerpiece for taking on the Datsyuk contract.

Perhaps he needs a chance and a change of scenery. Would like to see Duclair traded so that he could get that chance and change of scenery as well.

Pulkkinen has a 100MPH+ slap shot and he's really good on power play. I hope he gets a fair chance. I still think that there's some potential there. Only as a 5min per game power play specialist if nothing else.

Only asset what Pulkkinen has to offer is his shot.
As a skater he's slow as a snail congrats for ''great'' deal.

Interesting way to get around needing waivers but I'm happy for Tucson that it happened. Only problem is that Pulkkinen is/was unhappy with the Wild because he thinks he's NHL caliber. Maybe clearing waivers humbled him.

I was high on Pulkkinen once... The thing that comforts me is Dave Tippett's history with young skill players who don't play with an edge. We're finally helping Tucson!

Not going anywhere. We have 13 forwards with Richardson and Burmistrov injured and Vrbata on the move. We're basically have 10 forwards on the roster, with Doan and Jooris being the only right handed shots. Not even sure if Doan is gonna stick around as he seemed really upset. Even if we call up Fischer and Duclair, there might still be room for Pulkkinen. And I really don't think Tippett has the intention to call up Duclair anytime soon. Not at all.

No. Dave turned the page on Duclair last year. I have no idea why they kept him if he wasn't going to try to coach him instead of destroying him. They should have traded him the instant DinoDave decided he wasn't his type of player. I spent all summer saying it.
This might be this year's Plotnikov. Guy with some potential but tarnished shine. Warm body to play out the season. I find it hard to believe any other coach would play his guy over Duclair.

You know what, you might be right. I feel like this kid deserves a second chance though. He failed in Detroit but as I said...I don't think he ever had a chance in Minnesota. We're in a position where we can give him that chance and still play Duclair if we wanted to. Duclair is a different story. I can kind of see where Tippett is coming from. Kid has 8 points in 15 games for Tucson. For a scorer, that's nowhere near good enough. I'd let him find his groove in Tucson and see where he's at in training camp.
