Forsberg is really struggling. It won't show up in the box score, but he waved at a long unscreened shot that trickled into the net after the whistle was blown prematurely. Hurricanes followed up with a rapid series of shots that pinballed off him and had the Jackets scrambling.

On the upside, the Atkinson line has been burning the Canes D all night. 4-2 Jackets.

Nothing really happening right now. 3 total shots in the first half of the 3rd, both teams winding the clock with a slow pace of play.

Cam Atkinson has been everywhere in this game. Easily the best CBJ forward.

Good to hear, big year for him

Jackets really slowed down the pace in the 3rd and ground out the win one shift at a time.

Erixon - Looked very solid, particularly in 1-on-1 defensive situations. Not spectacular but comfortable with the puck. Best Jacket defenseman in my view.

Goloubef - Barely noticed him TBH. He was on the PK at times. Otherwise very quiet.

Thanks for the updates - how about Oliver Bjorkstrand? Certainly not expecting him to make the team, just wondering how he fared.

Thanks a lot. I have always like Erixon and thought he should have gotten more chances.

7 hits for Bjorkstrand in the game..most for any player in the game... didn't realize he hit so much for such a skilled guy

Yes I've noticed that too. I just attribute it as too many hits to the head!

I attributed the same to Umberger too.... Tropp may not be a rocket scientist but he knows how to play a hardnosed game of hockey with emotion and success, I like that...

I'm happy to hear Erixson is playing too, not sure what the issues have been with him but he deserves a season to prove himself or hit the road.

Kind of hard to judge him fairly as his line didn't fare very well. I mostly noticed him when things were going kind of haywire for the Jackets in their own zone, but that's not necessarily a reflection on him as an individual. There was a lot of that in this game, especially early when things were fast and sloppy.

The information I can pull from this thread is of course scant (a few replays of goals in a pre-season tilt of mostly minor-league lineups), but Foligno-Letestu-Atkinson looks like a good combination. Letestu is an excellent insurance policy in case we are down a center, as we are. He's more than skilled enough to run a scoring line.
