The infamous "Russian Factor" is taking its toll on the sheer number of drafted prospects playing in Russia as nowadays, the NHL franchises are scared to draft directly from Russia, causing many top prospects to decide to cross the pond earlier and play some seasons in the Canadian major junior system in order to improve their chances of being chosen at the NHL Draft.



That being said, Russia has struggled in producing consistent talent at the center position, with most of the first- or second-line centers on the KHL teams being either veterans or import players. Its always regrettable to realize that Russian kids are still sacrificing their chances at having a hockey career by going to North America instead of staying home, but its always good news to hear that fewer Russian players are being drafted by the NHL. More than 95% of the kids who go to NA end up in failure, and come back home later to find that their stock price has plummeted in both the NHL and KHL. The fewer "Russian kamikazes" who experience that the better!
