Rare to see a forward vs defender in a poll without some sort of explanation. Why pit them against each other?

Were they UFA at the same time? Taken in the same draft? Go head to head in a Cup final? Teammates back in jr? Start a crypto currency together? Both names start with a P?

That must be it!

Strange poll. Both players have proven to be major contributors to their teams' successes, and you can't really go wrong with either pick.

That said, I'd choose Pietrangelo pretty comfortably. As much as I like Point, I can't not take the guy who fills the more important role and has proven his versatility by leading two different Cup teams in ice time.

When comparing players who play different positions i’ll always simply take the better player. So Point it is.

My Oilers need a prime Pies over a Prime point.

So I took Pies.

We already have a couple of 50 goal scoring centers. We need defense.

LOL Oilers and Leafs fan valuing the elite Dman.

*High Five*
I don't get whats funny about that?

Pietrangelo was a top 10 d-men for like 5-6 years in his prime

Point is elite but he relies more on another elite player than Pietrangelo did

Point is a elite 1C, just Pietrangelo would instantly have fixed the leafs d-core (letting rielly be an elite 2) and edmontons as well (Ekholm as 2)

We're fans of teams that are offensive juggernauts but lack an elite defender. We have a shared appreciation for what we lack.

It made no sense how he didnt win the Smythe

19 pts along with amazing defense

Binnington had like .913 that playoffs, he wasn't anything special.
Pietrangelo and Parayko were my clear top 2. I don't know why the journalists who voted hated Tom Hortons so much.

And?
If this notion of he was the “best player” on that cup run you’d think he would gotten at least a single vote.

Even the fan vote before it was awarded was overwhelmingly O’Reilly
O'Reilly put up points in the finals was why. Recency bias, he wasn't talked about after the WCF.
