I dont think Bratt was cruising at all. He played exactly how he always plays...In fact, he was the only player who showed any kind of speed tonight.

that euro to NA transition is a tough one - i think slaf gets a look for a few games, see if he figures it out, and then spends a bit of time in the minors. he'll be back to mtl soon though

He was not going full tilt IMO. But he was still the best player on the ice.
Idk what makes you really say that. He's not a physical player so can scratch that off the list. He effectively used his speed and did hustle. I'm not sure what else can make you say he didn't go 100%.

Well the good thing is we don't need to worry about pressure of Slaf working out or not :D

What did you guys think of Slafkovsky?

Think Kakko Kappo in his rookie year. Pretty invisible and useless throughout the game. I am actually very surprised by this having watched him during the WC, I was convinced he would not end up being another Kakko. Maybe the system in Montreal is affecting his play. I doubt that because great players can thrive in any system.

I have a Barch jersey, does that count?

My Gusev jersey wasn't good for long....

Same, I'm not sure what people are expecting.

Not expecting anything more of a preseason game. He was the best player on the ice. The point I'm trying to make is that he's so good he was clowning kids at basically half his actual speed.

Slaf will be fine. It's one game in preseason lol. I think he ends up more as a playmaker when it's all said and done. He creates a lot of space for his linemates.

Reading commentary from Habs fans on twitter which is mostly negative btw, thus reaffirming my takes here, Slafkovsky has not looked particularly good in training camp either and it's carrying on into pre-season play.
It seems that the game is too fast for him. He is obviously not used to the speed of the NHL. Regardless, you can still show flashes and be noticeable in the ice.
And the fact that he hasn't done this is surprising.

Of course as usual, I don't get any reply ( ) so I ask the rest here who would :

What is your definition of "Full Tilt" when it comes to how Bratt performed or didn't?

Bratt looked the same as he always has and played with the same amount of effort like he did last season.

He's basically making sure his engine is already revved up and going from the get-go even if it's Preseason.

Unless you all expect him to have 3 goals and 5 assists in a game where he's playing with AHL'ers (mostly).... :help:

What do you consider "Full Tilt"?

Oh for sure, he needs to adjust to a bunch of things but the player is there, imo.

It's Montreal, so of course their expectations are off the chart, and unfair to Slaf himself. We all knew going into this that the draft was weak, no Bedard's in sight.

Also its twitter where all the braindead hockey fans post their quick takes.

The Habs HFboard is mostly saying he needs time to get used to NHL speed and ice and probably the AHL would be good for him.

Slafkovsky and Nemec are both similar where they are better off playing in the AHL to not ruin their development. We have high expectations for Nemec but Slafkovsky is going to be playing in a pressure cooker of a market. Both teams are in different situations though. Montreal looks to be going through the first year or two of their rebuild while we are trying to exit ours and get back to the playoffs.

Thought Tatar and Bahl had good games. Foote is not good and Boqvist didn't show much. Johnsson can get waived for all I care.

Holy hell at the hot takes on Slaf though. He wasn't bad tonight. He needs time to adjust and I hope Montreal's fanbase has that patience. Expectations in the big market is the only thing that makes me a little nervous with him.

Bratt was taking it easy compared to regular season play.

An example play in the first period, he got a puck near the faceoff dot, was going to drive into the slot where there was space but would have led to hard contact, he changes his mind and circles the puck back outside.

Bratt playing his hardest takes it to the slot and accepts the contact for the good chance. Preseason it doesn’t make sense to take the contact so he chose not to.
