Why do you think Sekac will be gone? He will be a RFA and his skillset is valuable for 3rd line imo. Also seems like he can play any where in the lineup necessary.

Because I think he is highly over rated guy who won't impress enough to hold a roster spot ahead of emerging prospects. He doesn't play good enough defense or grind well enough to be a bottom 6 guy. If he can't light the lamp he has no value. And so far he can't light the lamp.

I'm not sure why you think that a guy who struggles to score, has no grit and doesn't play defense can play anywhere in the lineup. Yes, he was tried in all those spots last year but didn't deliver in any of them.

Why do people think this guy can't play defense? He might not be the best guy deep in our zone, but he is responsible. He gets back quickly and I'm pretty sure he played a bit of PK time this year. Not to mention he can match Cogliano's breakaway speed while having better hands. If you watch some of his goals in MTL, he can shoot the puck, but it's clear that he wasn't comfortable doing that in Anaheim. I saw a lot more offensive potential in him than a lot of our other young forwards.
I do agree that he probably isn't suited for a bottom 6 role, but how much did we really get to see him play on a consistent basis this year?

If I remember correctly wasn't this his first year on NA ice also? I think he has potential and will be cheap and easy to keep.

I don't how you can say that. He has yet to outscore Cogs in the NHL. People keep talking about his hands while conveniently forgetting he couldn't score. Potential is a fancy French word for "ain't cutting it". If he puts it together next year and finds the net, great. I'll be the first to congratulate him. But in the NHL you produce or your gone. Ask Etem, DSP, or Palmieri. And Palmieri showed way more than Sekac ever has, regardless of his "hands". The NHL is a results driven business.

Having better hands isn't just about scoring.
Do you remember Sekac's pass to Perry when he played on the top line for a game? Cogliano could definitely not do that. Honestly, even more than shooting and finishing, he is very good at stickhandling in tight spaces and making quality passes, that's what I meant by better hands.
I'll just say that yes, Sekac has not produced as much as we would've hoped, but he's been in North America for a year and only played sparingly while he was here. I do think he has more potential than all of the guys you mentioned, however. Not to mention he plays a position that we do not have much talent at.

Sekac best skills are chasing the puck, getting it, and keeping it in tight areas. Hopefully the rest of his game matures once he settles in the American rink.

I'll give you that having good hands can manifest itself in being a playmaker as well as a scorer. But don't confuse a good pass or two for being proven. Remember Etem's goal again WIN?

He's going to get his shot, I promise you I will do nothing to stop that from happening. After that it's up to him. I hope your expectations for him are correct. I just don't think they are. Time will tell.

What side does Theodore play? Everyone thinks Vatanen will be the one to be traded, and Theodore does have the offense to replace him. But he shoots left, and I think he normally plays on the left (except for maybe WJC?). That's half the reason Stoner is still here.

It might come down to one of Theodore/Fowler/Lindholm.

That said, the right has Despres/Bieksa/Manson/Vatanen. So there might be a crunch there too.

I see the Manson Theodore becoming a pair in the AHL and then maybe thrown into the wolves as a 3rd pairing in 16-17.
