How I see the playoff match-ups..

Minnesota vs. St. Louis
San Jose vs. Anaheim
Chicago vs. Nashville
Edmonton vs. Calgary

Washington vs. Tampa Bay
Montreal vs. NY Rangers
Columbus vs. Pittsburgh
Ottawa vs. Boston

Calgary passes Anaheim. I want CGY first round.

Bold prediction is Tampa getting in. Don't see Winnipeg or LA getting by STL. They play Colorado two more times and have games in hand.

It's a little farfetched, but not THAT big of a stretch.

It's even possible that ANA and LA both fall out of a spot and Winnipeg and St Louis make it in. Anaheim has a pretty tough schedule comparably speaking.

I think the west is set. Kings are done. Calgary might finish higher if they can push this hot streak for a little longer. I also view Anaheim as a bit of a sleeping giant even if they are clearly not the team they once were.

I think STL gets the last wild card spot in the West due to their easy schedule. Almost half of their remaining games are against Colorado and Arizona. For the East I think that Tampa Bay takes the last spot. Only 3 points back and to talented of a team compared to miss the playoffs.

My safe, "non-bold" predictions.

Very bold actually. You predict zero upsets. That's less likely than there being one or two upsets. The hardest part on predicting playoffs is guessing the correct upsets.

I'd consider the Boston and Pit loses upsets, but yea thats about it

Yeah, I guess Pit loss would be considered an upset because of the histories of both team. Just not a major upset based on current year results.

Ottawa/Boston I see as a coin flip with neither being a real upset as Boston has missed Playoffs two years in a row and underachieved in their last appearance whereas Ottawa has been more of a slow grow to get where they are, so series win wouldn't be overly shocking. Either one of them would lose to the Rangers in Round 2 though.

As a long time Oilers fan, nothing makes me happier than seeing every poster have Edmonton locked in there.

Beautiful.

I really want Winnipeg to make it.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Jets get in as well. That fanbase deserves a little joy after all they've been through in the last 35+ years.

Saying that... the Jets don't seem to do themselves any favours.

8th best offense and 27th best defense in the NHL... that's not really the type of team that usually excels in a playoff environment. 26th best PK is a further sign they are weak defensively.

They certainly need to tighten up in their own end and in net to have a chance at squeaking in.

Down the stretch here they could have an outside shot at making it if the Kings/Blues stay cool... but they just seem like a team that will come up just short by blowing a lead in their final weekend to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I would really like it if the Jets make it in and the Leafs didn't.

That fanbase deserves their team relocating to the desert once again after all the **** they talked about the Oilers circa 2014-2015 during their one-off playoff appearance. For a team which had never advanced past the 2nd round in the 17-year span of their 1st incarnation (LMAO), and has yet to win a single playoff game in their continuance of the Atlanta Thrashers, their fans brought cocky to a whole new level that summer.....legit.

Funny to see how much the tables have turned over the last couple season.:laugh:

LA and Winnipeg will miss, STL will make it.

In the east it's a crap shoot. Ill go with my gut and predict the underdog Flyers pull something out of their ass.

Rangers over the habs isnt an upset? Carey is 11-1-0 against the rags the last 12 games with a 0.98 GAA

and the rags have beaten the habs 3 times in the last 4 years

Regular season vs. Post-season is different. Rangers have had a lots of playoff success over the last few years, so I wouldn't consider it an upset. In the past five years, they have 1 cup final appearance, 3 Eastern final appearance, and have only been eliminated once in the first round (vs. the eventual cup winners). They also have the better record this season currently.

They also beat Montreal in their last playoff appearance (granted Price did get injured early in that one). It would be a good close series, where neither team winning would be considered an upset, but I think the Rangers would beat them.
