(cap space would be $4M less if we keep Hags)

- I left Hagelin off, as I would like to shed him, particularly if we re-sign Bonino or an expensive 3C; and/or go after a UFA Dman for the #4/5 slot.

I don't get why everyone thinks Daley is leaving for ~3 years ~$4 million/year. Who are they going to replace him with in that price range?

Depends on how they really feel about Pouliot, and if they like any of Kulikov, Del Zotto or Stone. The good thing about Kulikov is that I believe we could sign him to a 1 year "prove yourself" contract for $2-3M (probably same with MDZ, although Stone clearly has earned a multi year deal that probably doesn't work for us).

But if the Pens aren't sure about Poo, and don't like either Kulikov or MDZ, I would re-sign Daley on a max 2-year deal @ 3M per year.

People evaluating his play this season (and post season) need to remember that he was FAR from healthy when he returned and really needed another 6-8 weeks to heal properly. Darren Dreger said Daley had "No business playing whatsoever" in the playoffs, and so I believe he can regain his form. He's a gifted skater and that's not going to disappear in the next 2 years, but 2 years is the max I'd go for him -- which is also the max any other team would offer anyway, so if we wanted to go that route, I think we could get such a deal done.
