Since the thread that this was initially being discussed in has been closed, I have started a new thread to discuss the upcoming Nashville Predators Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, February 5th, 2008. The meeting will be held across the street from the Sommet Center at the Nashville Convention Center and will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 PM to allow everyone to make it over to the arena on-time.

Friday, it was announced that NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman will be in attendance at the meeting with Predators season-ticket holders prior to our nationally televised game against Carolina on VS. Bettman joins Predators Chairman and Governor David Freeman, Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager and Alternate Governor David Poile, and Predators President of of Business Operations and Alternate Governor for the hour long session where there will be a state of the franchise address and then a question and answer session.

There is also an invitation only luncheon meeting with suite holders and area business leaders in the afternoon being catered at the arena's Suite Level Club with the same delegates in attendance.

Freeman was on 106.7 FM (Nashville) on Thursday and said that local businesses have been very receptive to working with the Predators since the transfer of ownership and that he felt that the local business community took an unfair amount of flak for problems under the previous ownership and that it is the goal of new ownership to mend fences.

Additionally, we have picked up a few new sponsors recently - including the return of Taco Bell for our 5th goal promotion (which has been sorely missed) this week and the subsequent return of the "We want tacos" chant as soon as the Predators score 4 goals.

Things are definitely not out of the woods and by no means am I being naive here. There is still a long way to go to make this a stable NHL market, however there has at least been a positive response thus far and we can only hope that the positive news continues...

FYI, tonight's game vs. Phoenix is sold out. Additionally, the three remaining Saturday night home games are expected to sell out (very few tickets remain) and we are expecting to sell out the Fangtastic Finale (regular season final home game). Freeman said on the radio that the ownership group really has no doubt that we will reach the paid attendance requirements this season for full revenue-sharing.
