Apparently he was already the property of the Maple Leafs and not a free agent...

I went through the history. As of Sept 16/09 he's under a 2yr x 500K contract with Phoenix

As of Apr 4/09 Eriksson has 1 year remaining on his contract at 650K with Washington.

Is this enough evidence to send him back to my organization, because i remember distinctly during free agency he had 0 years left on his contract..

Wow...my mistake. I had written depth forwards that I wanted to get and he was on there and instead of typing in the person I actually DID trade for (Ryan Craig), I typed in Goc.

As of last season Anders Eriksson was on a two year contract... not sure how you signed him in free agency.

I think if you or the agents can dig up the email confirming the Leafs signing of Eriksson we can put it to bed. That link may be just as confused as I am as to who owns the rights.

Anders Erickson was a UFA signing by Toronto Maple Leafs to 2 years contract for $1,500,000 per season. I was able to locate Reggie's original announcement and listing of Free Agents but cannot locate the 1st round results. If anyone can find the posting than it would solve the issue.
