Failing to score on a 12 second powerplay caused by overlapping penalties is worth the same as failing to score on a full 2 minute powerplay - 0 for 1.

Isn't that a bit silly? Should we change the way powerplay stats are kept?

Perhaps the stat that should be recorded is PPG/2 minutes of PP time.

You can just use the 5v4 Goals/60min stats found on most analytics sites for a more normalized look at PP performance.

I don't think it's really all that important. Every team is subject to having very short powerplays on which they fail to convert, so the current system still does a pretty good job of ranking the powerplay effectiveness of each team.

Unless there is some other reason you want it to be more convoluted.

PP stats are fine over a big sample and there are alternatives that have been mentioned. I'm surprised you didn't mention the most egregious part of PP tracking where you can never come out of a 5 min PP w/ 100% conversion.

I’ve always thought that a better way to track it would be powerplay/goal or goals/2 minutes or something along those lines
