I believe in two types of rivalries.

The first is the kind where you want nothing more than to beat your opponent, but at the end of the day you respect them for bringing out the best in you and you could feasibly enjoy a beer together away from the rink.

The second is the kind where you have no respect at all for your opponent and all you wish for is his misery and weltschmertz, stewing in whatever fresh pile of refuse he uses as his excuse for a home while his ego and penchant for gloating slowly eats away at his internal organs.

I put most of the NHL into the first category. I put the LA Kings into the second.
