For all his accomplishment, Sidney Crosby has only won one playoff round in his 30s.

Wayne and Brett Gretzky have record for the most points by brothers - 2857 for Wayne and 4 for Brett
I'm guessing this would also be the largest point discrepancy between NHL siblings of all time too

(Brent, not Brett)

Patrick Roy played atleast 61 games a season in his last 11 seasons in the NHL (he played 43 of 48 in a shortened season in ‘95).

Roy best save % years were his last 2 seasons.

Only sort of a fact but whatever. In the 1995-96 season, a 31 year old Mario Lemieux finally played after missing an entire season and only playing 22 games the season before that due to debilitating back problems and a fight with cancer. He would go on to score 69 goals and 161 points in 70 games.

My favorite fact is that that season had lower scoring rates than the NHL did last year.

When the NHL added the draft lottery into the January 1995 CBA, they managed to not figure out the rules until the May 1995 GM meetings after the regular season had already concluded.

At the same time, the Orlando Magic were the #1 seed in the NBA Eastern Conference and en route to an NBA Finals appearance. In 1993, Orlando had improbably won the draft lottery despite having the lowest odds; They'd eventually trade down and turned the pick into Penny Hardaway.

Since it looked like the Magic had a burgeoning dynasty, some NHL GMs successfully argued that the league should avoid an "Orlando" situation and placed a limit on how far a team could move up.

The lottery procedure remained unchanged through 2012. So for 17 years, Shaq/Penny had an indirect influence on the NHL Draft.
What the heck, they couldn't find Shaq anything bigger than an XL?

Even worse, they didn't even give him a personalized jersey. They recycled some random replica Alexei Ponikarovsky that they had sitting around.

That or maybe Shaq is just a huge Ponikarovsky fan....
