3rd line centers hardly ever score 45-50 points.

I explained that in my post. I see him getting more ice time than a regular 3C, including powerplay.

I believe he has the potential to be a solid 2C on this team. However, I see him as more of a fit as a 3C. And if the Stars can bring in a true 2C in the next year or two, I think Eakin might very well become of the league's best third line checking centers and the Stars would be in very good shape.

A month or two ago, Razor wrote that piece saying Dallas needed a #2 center meaning he likely see's Eakin as a 3.

Ludwig just said post game he feels long term Eakin is a good #3 like Carboneau was for '99.

Ali mentioned an article where Crosby said Eakin was a very good player that was hard to play against.

Not having Eakin in definitely hurt our game tonight.

Yep, Eakin is good about coming back very low in his own zone and taking charge of the transition game while facilitating possession. Without him we get a fair bit more icings and pucks flung off the glass (or into the stands).
