Because of the current format ,
No idea what tweet means, the number 2 seed, still plays the 7th seed.
When did a 103 point team become worse than 93 points.

Yeah, winning the Eastern Conference is pretty crucial this year.#2 seed is playing the #6 seed
#3 seed is playing the #7 seed
Carolina (3rd) would be playing the Islanders (7th)
Because the devils are weak physically and mentally on top of being gutless and let the Rangers eliminate them from the POs on Wed. They suuuuuuck and their jawdropping fail opened the door for a host of Metro teams to contend for the 3d spot as well as WC2. That's why the islanders are 3d in the Metro with 25 regulation wins in 76 games and talking POs while the devils are deeply vested in the lottery. Again.Da fuk, how is NYI back in a playoff spot?
The Capitals are going to get that Wild Card spot. Baw god.
Maybe wait until after the regular season to complain about the playoff format? Carolina is just 2 points back of Boston for the former #2 seed and have a stranglehold on the tiebreaker. The 1v8 matchups are a very real possibility.
That doesn't matter. Boston will be the number 2 seed if they win the Atlantic no matter what Carolina does. They then have the pleasure of facing a very tough Tampa team. Carolina will probably finish 2nd in the Metro and face 1 of Philly, Washington, NYI, or Pitt which is a much more favorable matchup.Maybe wait until after the regular season to complain about the playoff format? Division winners should be ranked 1,2I stand corrected. Ironically, that highlights how that was a flawed system too.
As a Wings fan it’s basically who’s a little less pathetic.Race? More like a shuffle. Or old folks trying to make a getaway with their walkers.
Division winners should be ranked 1,2
Otherwise trash divisions.
Alternative should be 1-8I guess the alternative is top 4 teams in each division make it, no wild cards. In which case Boston is 100% guaranteed to face Tampa at this point(assuming the the standings don't change between now and the end of season)
Missing the point, it's a bad playoff formatThe bet when the Bruins played the 8 seed last year? That one worked out all too well.
It’s been a bad format for years. The league won’t change it. It was bad when the old South Least division winner got the 3 seed when they had a similar record to the 8th place team. The same 8 teams are in right now based on points with both playoff styles and a few teams would be moved around but it wouldn’t make a major difference this season.Alternative should be 1-8

We have had two top 5 teams meet in the 1st round in this same format, it's a really bad format. The Atlantic winner who is currently 2nd overall will have a significantly more difficult matchup than 2nd in the Metro who is 3rd overall. It should not happen and it will absolutely make a big difference. It’s been a bad format for years. The league won’t change it. I’ve never seen it before.. usually you need 93-95 points to make the playoffs. Looking like 88 will be all you need, if that.It is pretty funny to see all those teams still in the mix, meanwhile in the West you've got St. Louis with more points than any of them and they're still seven points out of the playoffs, all but officially elimated.
And the reality is that given the number of extra points awarded throughout the league (up to about 250 OTL around the NHL), thus the real 0.500 these days is like 90 points.I’ve never seen it before.. usually you need 93-95 points to make the playoffs. Looking like 88 will be all you need, if that.
