At one point, at league headquarters, Subban’s phone buzzed with an incoming text message. “Sidney,” he said, shaking his head. “Probably telling me to take it easy on him.” He added, “I told him I’m taking him out to dinner when he comes to Montreal—before I slap him!”

I always wondered why his father began rooting for the Habs:

Karl lived in Sudbury’s Flour Mill district, a Francophone neighborhood, where people rooted for the Montreal Canadiens.

Cool article. I actually grew up near the Flour Mill in Sudbury too. Not a great neighbourhood. When I grew up though there was still lots of leafs fans.
