got to be a 2023 1st if it's not it's a steal
Nah, he's got a hefty contract, he's older, he's got three years left on his contract, there isn't much cap space out there , and he's demanded a trade.

I'm sure the Habs will get fair value, but the best way to get a first for him was to wait until he was an expiring.

But betting on old guys is risky as hell.

The older you get the more injury prone you get.
& the odds at seeing sharp decline go way up

I don’t see the Pens as an elite team with or without Petry
Pens have already won, won, and won again with this core. They’re no longer the top team in the division, they have no youth about to step in and make a difference, and ALL of their key players are old and injury prone.

Yes, it’s risky, but it’s a good risk. Better than accepting mediocrity.

Montreal media and fans missed being able to short form a player's name to KK so it will be Kapanen going back the other way.

After the trade Carolina will sign him to a one year 6.1 million offer sheet.

It has to be Pettersson+ for Petry, nothing else would work from a cap perspective for the Penguins.

Swapping Pettersson and Marino for Petry and Smith is definitely an interesting off-season with the defense.
Yes Petts and Blue I'm thinking for Petry with us signing Larsson right after

Actually I like the deal. Matheson was great for the pens last year but Petry is simply better.

LOL and Letang was rumored as a replacement for a parting Petry.
(...and Petry was sent to Pittsburgh to play on the same team as Letang).

...And frankly, that is the best role for him. In his good days, he's plenty good enough for the first pair, but his best hockey came with him achoring the second (or 1-B) pair, while Weber was leading the 1-A pair)
To be fair letang was only rumoured by fan boys because of his first language
