That's honestly a real bummer. Gruden has no business anywhere above L4, but he's got the PK and checking ability to displace Carter, Nieto, Acciari etc next season on L4. Guy needs time to show that. We are limited on roster moves and cap is tight, so he might not get back this season.

It's not even the first person in the NHL. The legend John Gruden (Jonathans dad) played D for the Bruins, Sens and Caps during the 90s.

Exactly; the guy comes up, plays limited minutes, actually scores a f***ing goal from the bottom six, and generally looked fine. Which is more than Jansen Harkens has managed in 50+ games.

The Pens season is done, and they need to be looking at younger legs. What is the harm in keeping him playing over the bottom six guys who have been there (and mostly failing) all season? Other than the veteran guys being "Sully's boys".

This just seems pointless.
