Anaheim is on the rise, thus Gibson won't be traded unless they hardcore tank next year as well. He's young enough to be a part of the solution there. Entering prime goalie years.

We absolutely would not be able to afford Giroux and Palat, unless you foresee us letting Brown go/trading for future and Palat came at an excellent 5 million deal.

Rutta would be a great and savvy signing, replacing J.Brown and being a much better version of him.

Brady (8.200) - Norris (6.500) - Bath (5.000)
Formenton (2.300) - Jimmy (0.900) - Rakell (6.500)
Palat (6.500) - Pinto (0.900) - C.Brown (3.600)
Sanford (2.000) - Paul (2.700) - Watson (1.500)
Total: 46.600

Chabot (8.000) - Zuuuub (2.500)
Sanderson (0.900) - Rutta (2.200)
Holden (1.300) - Zaitsev (4.500)
Total: 19.400

Gibson (6.400)
GusGus (0.800)
Total: 7.200

Grand total: 73.200

Plenty of room even if I'm off with some of the salary predictions, and didn't add stuff like Phaneuf and White's buy-outs.

Ok, what about year after when Brown, Zub and Stutzle require extensions? And the year after that when Sanderson requires extension.

There is no way we are allocating 6.2 mil for our 4th line. Zilch. Also, you meant Giroux instead of Rakell, right? Cause this is not the same Rakell from 5 years ago. Zaitsev also cant remain on the roster if we paying Rutta 2.2 million as well.

Thats probably about the right cap hit. Injuries may push it a bit higher. Not sure about Rakell but the money makes sense and Jim desperately needs someone with some skill.

I wonder if Sanford would even extend here ? He was working pretty hard last night.

Sign Giroux 3 years 6.5 mil that's all we really need. I like your Rutta signing.

Tkachuk-Norris-Batherson
Giroux-Stutzle-Brown
Formenton-Pinto-White
Paul-xxxx-Watson

Chabot-Thomson
Sanderson-Zub
Holden-Rutta

Murray
Gus

Forsberg traded. Ziatsev traded with picks/prospect to Arizona. I don't think Brannstrom comes back. I'm of the belief we can trade White or Paul if the need arises later on. That's a solid team right there. Perhaps no real lethal firepower, but depth galore.

Brampton
White and a 3rd to Boston for DeBrusk
Zaitsev to Vancouver for Myers
sign Giroux
Retain on half of Sanford and see if we can get more then a 3rd for him.
Take anything for Tierney
Take anything for Brown
See if Forsberg can be moved to a contender that needs a back up (take anything)
Keep Mete if they can as a 7th defender, but I don't see him being able to play in front of Thomson or JBD who should get 30ish games each next year if we get his by the injury bug
Draft Geekie and let him cook in the minors.

Tkachuk Norris Batheron
DeBrusk Stu Giroux
Formenton Pinto Brown
Paul GaudetteWatson

Chabot Brannstrom (Brann is a good complimentary defender)
Sanderson Zub (give Sanderson our best defensive defender to ease into the game)
Holden Myers (Myers literally can't be worse than Zaitsev)

When did Rutherford go senile? Zaitsev for Myers ? I’m no Myers fan but no way Vancouver does that.

Vancouver needs cap space, Zaitsev gives em some savings. Worst case, we throw in a draft pick as well, we can give Vancouver back their 3rd.

Just get Zaitsev out of here

Isn't there a trade rumors thread for stuff like this? Not remotely realistic. Maybe move it over there. Destroys the culture and chemistry of the team on top of it having 0 sustainability to keep the core the organization threw away burning half a decade on rebuilding.

Because continuing to suck is a better option? Lol

Why are the two alternatives either to suck or to dish out expensive contracts to aging players? That's such a simple minded notion. And then to laugh about it seems incredibly immature.

Assen na yo.

Because we're going to continue to suck unless we do something about it. Sorry you don't understand that.

I understood the notion just fine. I just didn't understand how someone could come to the conclusion that the only two options are do nothing or do some incredibly stupid things.

Assen na yo.

Ottawa drafts David Jiricek RD with their 1st rd pick. Ostapchuk eventually replaces Paul & they will need to find a replacement for C. Brown soon.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Stutzle - C. Brown
Jarventie - Pinto - Boucher
Paul - Kastelic - Sokolov/Ostapchuk

Chabot - Jiricek
Sanderson - Thomson/JBD
Kleven - Roger

Murray - Gustavsson/Sogaard

I'd much rather have White than Sanford + White's buyout.
White's buyout is relatively inexpensive:

You want to talk about pipe dream?

Kyle Connor or Patrik Laine as Stützle’s RW. For some reason I just have a weird hard on for running Paul - Pinto - Brown as our third line.

Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Formenton - Stützle - Connor
Paul - Pinto - Brown

Send that third line against other team’s first lines and feast on match ups.

My hardon is sending

Formenton-Pinto-Brown as our 3rd line during our contention window.

I absolutely agree on Laine though. I was just thinking that the other day.

Greig-Stutzle-Laine
Tkachuk-Norris-Bath
Formen-Pinto-Brown

Yeah, watching this team without Norris these past couple weeks have really pushed me on to the idea of adding a pure goal scorer into our top six.

This powerplay system is abysmal but it just might be the personnel. Zero cross seam passes, zero off side one timers..

Going from that to having a shooting option in Laine & Norris from both sides of the circle is going to be a dream come true for Chabot from the point.

Also sends one of our top six forwards down to PP2. Not sure how it would work, might be a logjam but choosing the 4 forwards for PP1 won’t be fun.

Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Stützle, Laine, Brown, Pinto, Formenton.

Whose the odd man out of the powerplay in the group of Tkachuk, Norris, Batherson, Stü, Laine for PP1?
