Posts gathers, and now a thread begins.
It shall not end until my death (or 1000 posts).
I shall have no life, hold no lands, father no children.
I shall wear no crowns and win no glory.
I shall live and die with my posts.
I am the keeper of the threads.
I am the watcher on the walls.
I am the fire that burns against the cold, the light that brings the dawn, the horn that wakes the sleepers, the shield that guards the boards of men.
I pledge my life and honor to the Roman Numerals, for this thread and all threads to come.

And you know what, No Fun Shogun, it wont end even if Jamison does buy the 'Yotes since many will still expect the team to move eventually. It'll only (maybe) end when they relocate.

I thought that too. However, if the new CBA is very favourable to small market teams (50%, higher ceiling, lower floor), relocation talk may disappear.

Agreed. This will never end until:

Hockey elitists accept the fact that hockey can be successful south of Chicago.
Every town in Canada with over 50K people or 5 outdoor rinks has an NHL team
Winnipeg implodes from a whiteout avalanche and is buried for eons
Quebec determines theres not enough french speaking players regardless of skill and rejects the NHL begging them to take a team.

When this is all over, these threads should be made into a book with the thread names as chapter titles.

I'd buy it just for the chapter titles.

Good question from a Qc reporter.

If Jamison buys the Coyotes, will Gary Bettman ask the people of PHX to buy 13000 season tickets in 2 weeks, like he did last year for Winnipeg?

No

However, there could be an outside chance that GJ may have some stipulations in an out-clause stating he requires 13 000 ST and x% of suite rentals to make a go of it by year x or the NHL will allow him to sell the team for relocation and his lease with the COG will be deemed terminated.

There was never any hard core demand by Bettman & the league that Winnipeg sell 13,000 ST's within 2 weeks "or else". Or else what?. The Thrashers implode while Dalys down in Phoenix cashing another years $25M check from the COG?. This "better sell minimum number of ST's" is bogus when considering a Winnipeg, Quebec City, Hamilton or Markham, anyone of which could (as Winnipeg did) sell 20,000, 30,000 ST's within about 48-72 hours based on a 3, 5 or even 10yr + commitment, and in Southern Ontarios' case, you could probably also charge a frikin "seat license" fee/lease of about 10 grand just for the right to buy them. The leagues well aware of it. Why would they "demand" something like that from a market where "demand" exceeds availability?. My understanding of the Pegs' ticket drive was that it wasnt a league mandate, it was Chipmans', his perogative to go about it in the best way he saw fit, a minimum he wanted to see bought up in order to meet the basics' of his business plan & financial forecasts. Its simply unfair to compare Canadian tastes & demand to teams in the SW, Florida or wherever else by the same standard. Apples to oranges. Entirely different set of rules, standards.

Biggest misunderstanding of the TNSE Thrashers purchase.

The ticket drive was all Mark Chipman's idea ( although I'm sure it gave the NHL a warm and fuzzy feeling when it succeeded ). TNSE wanted to make sure the commitment was there and as well as knowing what the finances were going to be for the next 3-5 years. Smart when you are starting up something new. That's also the reason there are no Mini-packs ( 5 game, 10 game, 15 game ) for sale in Winnipeg. Other than a few nose-bleeds which are half season packs, it's full STH commitment.

This will never end until the Yotes have enough fans willing to pay nhl tickets prices to make the team viable there.Doesn`t really matter if the team is sold locally tomorrow, the problem simply won`t go away unless fans support with their wallets not their mouths. 16 years is long enough to make excuses, time to act is way overdue.

In Coyotes news, the game tonight has completely sold out..hours before puckdrop.
If you purchased tickets to 1 of the last 5 regular season home games you could then buy 2 for 1 tickets to playoff games.Plus tickets are basically half price to start with so is that really a sellout.Only if its the Yotes.

For those anticipating relocation, we're exactly 2 months from the date that Atlanta was officially 'transferred' to Winnipeg

But with no CBA, the next season may only start in February so maybe there's more time this year for transfering a franchise.

Which lead to the question, is it really a good business move to bought a team when you don't even know what the CBA will look like?
