This seems to add a little insight

Sad thing is, usual suspects that are Yotes fans in the area (usual suspects from other forums/sites) are eating this up and discarding the lack of professionalism and tact.

Two bucks in the risk management world marking the same tree. Antler-clash forthcoming

The IEH guys have always had their fans in some circles.

This latest spat with Pastor is odd. If Jones is correct, and Pastor is just a poseur, then Jones should just ignore him and get on with finalizing the deal with the NHL and get to work on an agreement with the COG. If he thinks that Pastor is a legitimate competitor, then this Twitter spat just makes him look like a petty attention-seeker.

Either way, I can't see what positive could come from it, other than some amusement for BOH participants.

Ya, and while were at it, why dont we just keep on going back in time to like 1915-17, blaming Toronto's Eddie Livingstone for being such a pain in the craw to the rest of the clubs in the NHA, precipitating the formation of the NHL in the first place... then perhaps we could blame Big Jim Norris & his offspring & eventual partners in the Wirtz clan, the power brokers behind Campbell & Ziegler for what they pulled from through the 30's on. No end of people to blame really. Serving what purpose I know not.

You miss the sarcasm emoticon?? :sarcasm:

I think we are finally getting close to the root cause of it all. Who invented the ice skate again? I think they deserve a share of the blame too.

I blame god for all this by creating everything including ice.

Nice to know as a fan of another team in another market that the owners I have... have ( so far) shown more professionalism in their little finger than all the potential owners of the Coyotes combined. I got a team back because they were professional.

It's really not that hard to understand, is it? The guys who quietly worked behind the scenes, followed the rules and kept their noses clean, they got a team in relatively short order with minimal complications. That's what it looks like to successfully purchase a pro sports team.

These vultures circling the Coyotes are coming from other industries, coming from a culture where you want to be the guy with the whitest teeth and the most expensive haircut. They're way, way out of their league here and in any other situation they wouldn't even be getting ink as serious interests.

Two things concern me with these latest bunch of suitors... Do they have enough money to ensure that this club isn't a salary cap "floor" team? And if they aren't, is the Glendale/Phoenix market strong enough to support a team that doesn't win much?

I mean, I should know something about teams that don't win much. It takes a lot of passion to stick with 'em.

That depends on whether they can get that extra $5 million in revenue from the games in Saskatoon... it's up to you and other fans in the "City of Bridges". :sarcasm:

Amusing drama with Ice Edge and Pastor's PR people over Twitter.
Is Pastor going to be revealed to be a fraud and just in it for PR as some have suspected?

Daryl Jones ‏@HedgeyeDJ
A certain San Diego based PR firm is about to get caught in the "trolley tracks". If you are over your skis, stay off the slopes.

Press releasing on April Fool's and referencing a minor league team that's been defunct for 5 decades is not a way to be taken serious #PR?

If your PR firm does that, you don't need enemies #PR?

Huh? This guy's been attached to several failed bids for this thing, many times in a wannabee capacity.

Pot, meet kettle.

Self-awareness has not been a strong suit among many of the actors in this drama.

Maybe.

The condition is Glendale paying somewhere in the Jamison deal (read $320M over 20 years).

Btw, I am pretty sure that since they are referring to Jamison deal but not giving numbers, lets remember one thing. Jamison deal was HEAVY frontloaded. I am pretty sure we are soon to see some demands of deals of 5 to 10 years, same amount as Jamison would have got per year (that was somewhere in between 17 and 20 for the first 5, then 15 for the next 5 then 10 for the last 10). Sounds like city pays less and pays for shorter amount of time while in the end, it's the same thing.

Well, it looks like Pastor might be willing to partner with Gosbee and the IEH guys to go in on a bid. How do we know? They're sharing phone numbers via their Twitter page.

This is almost too comical...

Simple solution to everyone's problem. Gosbee's group & Pastor get together to buy this team. Unbeatable pairing!

@AvsCoyotes12 Simple as finding a phone number on a Twitter profile? Hint: Look LEFT!

I know we will never get a firm deadline by the NHL

But with the upcoming schedule, draft, UFA day, Tippett and Maloney without a contract with only 12 players signed for next year whats the latest they can strech this thing out ?

A)May 15
B)June 1st
C)June 15

Winnipeg Jets were officially sold May 31, with a deal in principle on May 20. The Draft this year is on June 30. I think preliminary negotiations with Quebec start around May 15, and a deal would have to be finalized if relocation is indeed an option by June 1st. This gives Quebec a month to prepare for the draft. Frankly I'm surprised there isn't more pressure to find an owner on the Phoenix end of things. I don't see how a deal could be done to relocate the team, and for the relocated team to have less than 3 weeks available for the draft and to set up their franchise operations.

Realistically Phoenix has about half a month remaining (no I won't use that other term) before Quebec is considered. It doesn't necessarily mean the NHL is going to Quebec if this half month passes without a Phoenix owner, but smart money would say it does.

If the team is still in Phoenix by the draft, they'll be in Phoenix for another year at least.

You know you can :)

It is indeed getting pretty ridiculous, considering in less than 2 months the draft will be held and the free agents market will open. Both the GM and the coach have yet to be signed, so I doubt GMDM will sign/extend any of his numerous RFA/UFA without a budget plan. Within 2 months, a deal has to be reached both with the NHL and the COG. And we know it isn't easy to get public funding for this. I don't see why they're even discussing, it's obvious there isn't enough time left to build a franchise that wouldn't even be competitive, nor viable without a proper budget and timing.

Here is a firm deadline from one person....

“There’s gonna be some clarity to it one way or the other this year because if it gets to July 1 and there’s no owner, I’m without a contract,†Tippett said. “I’m gonna coach somewhere next year. I hope it’s here. But I’m gonna coach somewhere next year.â€

This is yet another moment in the saga where I just can't believe what I'm seeing from so-called professionals. It's one thing to have a little flair or panache, but these guys are amateur hour.

There is a major difference between the Thrashers and the Coyotes situation. The NHL owns the Coyotes and can negotiate a contingency deal, e.g. with PKP. Remember that they had a contingency deal for TNSE to buy the Coyotes a few years ago. It came within 15 minutes of being activated. The NHL aren't stupid enough to not have a backup plan in place. I'm working on the assumption that the conditional sale to PKP has been hammered out long ago, and is awaiting only the faxing of a signed copy from Bettman to PKP to activate it.

The draft scouting report will have to be done by the current Phoenix scouting staff. I'm sure that PKP has probably sounded out a potential candidate or 2 for GM.

Yeah, no reports of PKP grinning giddily and refusing to comment? Come on Quebec media, get on it!

Do any of the groups in Arizona, kicking tires, look like the real deal?

:)

Is this a serious question?

I would say the answer is no. Otherwise they would have gotten involved back when the CoG was offering to purchase the team for them as well as offset 150 million dollars of losses!

Can someone who skis explain what the "if you are over your skis, stay off the slopes." comment means? I would think if you are over your skis, you would be ready to ski on the slopes?

Maybe someone with twitter could ask Daryl what he means?

4-5 tweets between a PR firm for one group and a member of a competing group doesn't constitute a "drama." :shakehead

But let's not pass up a chance to skew things a little and only pick out what fits the agenda..... right??
