OT: Phillies fans, which team would you have preferred to see win the 1993 team or 2008?

2008 because I was alive for it. Lol. Was alive in 93 but not at the point where I remember a whole lot.

Right now I'd say 2008, that 93 team in some instances is coming out to be not a likable group.

Schilling & Dykstra really ruin that team for me. 2008 was a good team and had a bunch of great people, plus the best manager that you could root for.

Can I choose 2009?

A) They would beat the Yankees
B) The Yankees today still would not have won a World Series since 2000.

agree with this. I wanted that series so bad. it would have cemented them as an all time great team too if they had won back to back world series... I would of rather lost to any other AL team.

The 93 World Series was probably my first sports memory. What a sign of things to come.

2008 because I was 23 and not 8 years old like I was in 93.

08 was one the best experiences of my life!

if the '93 team was any good other than just in 1993, I'd probably pick them
but they stunk otherwise, and that season was a fluke-a very fun fluke tho

Phils win in 2009 if not for Cole Hamels forgetting how to pitch temporarily.

2010 or 2011 for me. I really wanted to see Doc and Cliff Lee win a world series. Funny how those teams were the best on paper, but had the worst results. Baseball I guess.

But between 2008 and 1993, had to be 2008. I cried when Brad Lidge struck out Hinske.

Those teams actually had the best results (in the regular season). Got eliminated by the Champs both years.

2011 Game 5 took me a few days to get over. Might be the most soul crushing loss during my lifetime. That team was so good. Of course the Eagles had a few in early 2000s but I was too young to really remember.

And then Howard tearing his achilles on the final play, basically slamming the window shut.

You just knew after the first inning triple they were losing 1-0 with Doc on the mound.

Still don't understand how we couldn't muster a single ****ing run in that game.

Maddening. Our core hitters had too many well known holes by that point.

Where is the Poll? ... I thought this was a Poll.

I'd have loved to see them BOTH win... along with 1983... Hell, I wanted the 1976 through 1978 to have won with those great rosters, before Pete Rose.

And TBH, the 1964 collapse destroyed me for years to come.

... In 1950 I was a toddler... and it would have been wasted for me. haha

Seriously though, at the time, the 1993 Team was likable... albeit frustrating Team that was not textbook built... and not as one would want it to be... but took us on a wonderful One-Season Ride that ended with a misplaced young Third-baseman and overused Closer -- yes, once again overused pitching killed the Phillies -- The Wild Thing gave it ball he had... but frankly had nothing in his tank long before that last fateful walk-off pitch ended the dream ride. Had the won, the would have been deified forever in Philly... and greatly loved for eternity.

I don't know how to answer the question, though... 1993 would have made the wait from 1980 so much shorter... but then again... we would now be in a much longer current drought in Philly... with all out Teams; six of one, a half dozen of the other. I would hate to have seen the great talent of the 2000's go out without a WS, so I suppose I'd have to say 2008.

EDIT: For the record... and FWIW... the fluke 1993 Team with it's 97 Wins, had a better record than either WS Champion Team... and all the other WS Teams... and every other Team except for the 101 Win Teams of '76 & '77 and the 2011 Team with 102 Wins.
