I remember when we used to do this when Kessel played for Toronto when it was closer but it still wasn't even remotely close. Kane.

Kessel makes Kane look a selke level winger in comparison
Kane is a better player, but he also probably hurts his team defensively more than any other winger in the league. You don't see Kessel walking the blue-line trying to make a high risk play and feed the other team for a breakaway.

Kessel remains underrated, even after two cups and two great playoff performances, but the answer is still Kane IMO.

Sums it up 100% perfectly. Kane is definitely the better player, but people acting like it's a landslide difference just isn't at all accurate. Kane is probably the best winger in hockey (at worst, #2). Kessel is like the 6th or 7th best winger in hockey.

Using actual numbers and not just a biased perception of how you imagine each player plays their game Kessel has a lot more giveaways and worse possession stats than Kane every season:eyeroll:

Both arent world beaters defensively but to say Kane costs his team more than any other winger in the league is an extremely dated exaggeration

Better poll would be Kessel or Simmonds.

That wouldn't be a better poll, because the answer to that one is clearly Kessel

No, a good poll would be Kessel vs Gaudreau. Kessel is at 34 goals and 101 points in his last 107 games, Gaudreau is at 29 goals and 95 points in 95 games. Kessel also had the pro of putting up 18 goals and 45 points in 49 playoff games over those 2 years.

Obviously Kane is better but if they were the same skill level based on play style I like Kessel better
