I see Kessel is already lining up his injury excuse so he doesn't have to go to the world champ .

They want him to reach 40.

It'll be a great soundbite in the PR campaign.

Who said he had to prove anything ?

Well one of the major reasons players go to the World Championships is to show their commitment to their country's national hockey program and impress coaches/GMs. It's the same sort of reason a player like Mike Smith made Team Canada. Players will go if they feel it gives them a better shot at the Olympics or a World Cup team. Kessel needn't worry about that.

It's interesting that the Leafs have a lot more leaks with their injury situation when they are in the midst of the most epic of epic collapses. If the Leafs had any shot of a playoff hope, this would be classified as a lower body injury IF, and that's a big if, they decided to make it public. Now they are setting everyone up for all the "he was playing through injury, he didn't really suck balls HARD." Reimer will probably have some sort of concussion, Bernier with his groin, Kessel with his foot, Clarkson with his being just not very good, Kadri with his inflated head etc..

Anybody who watched the game knows exactly what the injury is.

Ffs, people.

I'd rather see him rested for the remainder of the season. You can tell in his play that he is a little banged up. He hasn't been scoring as much lately either.
